I have been working at Wells Fargo part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The company is structured for advancement. Great benefits (medical, dental, retirement...) and paid time off.

    Cons

Difficult to break out of the retail sales side. No value was given to education on the retail side. Those who sold the most advanced regardless of other aspects.

    A bank is a bank

Current Employee - Personal Banker I (SAFE) in Provo, UT

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time

    Pros

Good benefits and because it is such a large, well known bank, it is a great resume builder as well.

    Cons

Everyone says high sales pressure, and although that is true, I don't think it is as excessive as it is made out to be.

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good amount of time off. Good people to work with. They have a product that I can believe in so it was easy to sell.

    Cons

Very aggressive with sales goals, in fact too aggressive for the pay. Lots of Saturdays working. They encourage sales practices that to some may seem unethical.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make your employees the competitive advantage again...

    Pros

Wells Fargo really cares about their employees and wants them to succeed. They provide a great working environment and management incentivizes employees to work hard. Managers are friendly and willing to work with you.

    Cons

There is some pressure to make sales quotas and reach goals that are somewhat unrealistic.

Great performance is recognized, but it's not always compensated.

I have been working at Wells Fargo

    Pros

Benefits options are exceptional. Benefits available to PT employees. 18 days of PTO available per year from day one. Hours are great and 9 paid holidays per year.

    Cons

It takes a long time for staffing decisions to be made. You may be identified as a great employee and qualified for promotions; however, current managers often won't approve job changes, because they want to keep you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

District managers ought to make more decisions for promoting employees when Service and Branch Managers want to keep their great employees in their own branches. Do not require great employees to stairstep their way up, when jumps are feasible (i.e. Teller to PB to SM to BM or BBG).

    I worked at Wells Fargo

    Pros

It is a stable company that treats its employees well. There are a lot of enjoyable people to work with (at least in Utah). Employees who work hard can get compensated with bonuses, which was nice.

    Cons

The employees get treated well somewhat at the expense of its customers getting misled, and signed up for accounts which they don't totally understand.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think the company is run fairly well, at least from my former position at the bottom of the ladder. But when sales gets pushy, the customer is the one who often walks away punished.

    I worked at Wells Fargo

    Pros

Great place to work! Loved the competitive atmosphere involving quaterly sales goals. While the gaols were difficult to reach, the environment was fast paced and exciting. Wells Fargo does a great job training its tellers in both sales and customer service.

    Cons

The banking industry is very competitive. In a retail branch the opportunity for upward mobility is difficult once you become a personal banker. Often Bankers are making the same salary for 5-10 years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Wells Fargo is a SMART company. Their upper management knows what there doing and will always ensure the company is heading in the right direction.
