I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

We try very hard to be the best team in banking. My personal team reflects the high standards that the world has for us as a company. It's not that we're the smartest, or the fastest, or the most tech-savvy individuals. We care. We care about our customers' experiences, we care about our communities, we care about the world around us and the people on our team. Our CEO has done a great job recently of promoting this culture and it has made a difference.

My manager, her manager, and all the fine people on my team are wonderful to work with, respectful of others, ethical, honest, and make difficult choices because they're the right thing to do. I have a huge amount of respect for them, and also for the work we do.

    Cons

I realize some customers and even team members have poor experiences at Wells Fargo, but my personal cons are pretty thin first-world type problems. Sometimes management doesn't understand what I do, which is rather technical. Sometimes it's difficult to gain buy-in on my ideas.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Embrace and recognize leaders who are great coaches, those who can coach team members to have great conversations with customers. Excuse managers who only ask for numbers from their teams and spend more time counting cats than coaching people. We are already doing this, and it's a marathon, not a sprint, but the faster this happens, the faster we will become the most respected company in the world.

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

You can leverage the brand and big name to help drive business. Everyone has heard of them so obtaining consumer trust is easier.

    Cons

You're just a number. No one in the company cares at all about you. They will always promote the best producer and rarely the best leader so management is absolutely horrible. Heavy corporate politics creates a very individualistic culture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Require leadership training, testing, or experience prior to promoting managers. The worst manager is always the best producer. This is especially evident in the senior management positions (Area Managers and Regional Managers). Management and Leadership are linked due to the position, but are distinctly different in their capacity and effectiveness. Great leadership will always trump an excellent manager!

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Wells Fargo is a great company to work for. Not only does the company care about its customers, but. They care about their employees.

    Cons

You are excepted to meet goals even if you are on vacation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I was blessed with a great manager, but have heard from other co-workers that not all managers are supportive. So for all those
Managers that fall a little short, remember a building is only as strong as it's foundation. If you treat your people fairly, they will go the extra mile.

I worked at Wells Fargo part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Enjoyable co-workers, company gatherings outside of work, room for growth.

    Cons

Customers take aggravation out on teller, pressure to make a sale, personal bankers aggressive when trying to push you to get customer to upgrade their account.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put less pressure for sales on the tellers, there is enough stress to make sure the cash is balanced every time.

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

I was employed with Wells Fargo for almost 20 years. Base salary and compensation is nice. Also the benefits are great with insurance, vacation, etc.

    Cons

Cares more about the goals of the bank versus what's right for the customers. Cares more about the bank than the employees that make up the bank.
