I worked at Wells Fargo as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

    - Pays well
    - technology processes are good and matured
    - Some people are very pleasant to work with

    Cons

    - They are extremely slow!! Its hard to imagine how insanely slow they are until you work for them. They take forever to get projects approved. And once approved they find out that they are out of funding or the projects are outdated or there are competing projects. As a result projects get cancelled or they need to be restarted. They waste a lot of money in these project approval processes. This does not happen to one or two...many many projects are like this
    - A lot of unnecessary meetings with a lot of people (sometimes 30+)
    - People sitting in the management level have old school mentality. They have been working for the company for a long time. As a result, no drive
    - A lot of talk. No execution
    - Power abuse by some managers
    - No innovation
    - Very slow culture

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Plan/communicate well. You will be able to detect competing projects early on and establish some kind of time commitment. Projects should not take forever to complete
    - Hire smart people and keep them engaged
    - Promote/hire people carefully. You don't want to have managers who abuse power

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits package is pretty good. It used to be a place where you could really bond with your fellow workers.

    Cons

Company now puts all value on their bottom line, turning what used to be a good and enjoyable work place into an exteremeky stressful environment.

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Very stable job with decent pay and benefits. Lots of large systems to work on, with large scale customer numbers.

    Cons

Very slow moving and behind the times on development platforms, software, infrastructure, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Flatten the layers of IT managers to improve velocity and cut costs. The ratio of managers to engineers is way too. I have yet to be on a project where the business managers, product managers, project managers, engineering managers, etc... hasn't outnumbered the engineers by at least 6 to 1. Also, the cool factor of working on Wells Fargo technology is ZERO. We need to attract young developers, as the IT staff is aging rapidly.

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time

    Pros

In-depth training for bankers is provided

    Cons

Sales goals dictated from the top... the trickle-down effect was exponential and unrealistic, placing the goal on sales numbers over customer service and satisfaction.
