I worked at Wells Fargo full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great work-life balance, except toward the end of a sales period (ie. month, quarter and year). Learned more than I realized while there; took leaving to see some of these lessons come into the fold. Overall, good starter job.

    Cons

Overall, there leadership on the retail side was terrible. Most companies have figured out already that just because an individuals sales are good, it does not mean that they will be a good leader for a sales team.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They know what they are doing. Although much of the retail leadership is terrible, Wells Fargo is still killing it from a profitability standpoint.

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Great benefits. Pretty good salary.

    Cons

You have to be OK with looking the other way at unethical practices and sales techniques.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Practice what you preach. We all discuss and sign documents in regards to honesty and selling with integrity. But management always seems to be OK with selling customers products they don't need. I would try to address issues of customers being mislead or flat out lied to and management never really cared. As long as you are hitting your numbers here, it doesn't matter how. No one talks about it but that is the culture here. Ask any Wells Fargo employee, it is difficult to hit your numbers while doing the right thing here. It can be done but the culture at Wells Fargo is to do it the easy way. The end result is all that matters here.

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The hours for the Welcome Call dept were awesome, Just got off too late. Wish they would have 10hr shifts that started earlier than 8AM. The 4 days a week, 10 hour days were good. Because we'd get a 3 day weekend.

    Cons

Working until 9PM, promotions weren't happening they should have been for employees who are proving themselves.

I worked at Wells Fargo as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Good place to work. Great coworkers offer a good balance of work life and social work atmosphere. Offer good pay for the work you do, and good hours.

    Cons

This job can tend to be a bit "click-y" if you will. There seem to be a lot of office politics going on, and if you're not careful you can be sucked into it all, and management is no exception to the politics.

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

only one bad Supervisor, whom no longer works there. Really was pleased at time I was there many bonuses, and challenges. Hit a base pay, last 5 years no raises

    Cons

Now heard they took away from employee many referral options, got too strict on points for 1 minute late. Many employees did work hard. After too much time, they too could not get raises. Could not get into higher position, because made them a lot of money in cross sales and not many new the ins and outs of the system like I did. Worked over 10 years for them

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't all ways side with Supervisor, Much higher ups should listen to people in lower level jobs. I appreciated this company.

Current Employee - Personal Banker II – Registered in Houston, TX

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

In comparison to other banks there are some perks.
    •. Competitive salary
    •. Stellar training program
    •. Competitive benefits

    Cons

This organization from the top down are indifferent to employee work and life balance. The turnover rate must be around 80%.

•. Too many hours and days worked with little consistency for a decent work life balance.
•. Their risk management in Houston pursues modern day witch hunts so be absolutely certain that you document well because chances are that you may have to frequently justify your actions. Their Houston internal investigator is a small person with a huge ego and an arrogance that leaves you wondering what her under the surface issues really are.
•. Cookie cutter atmosphere. Has some good concepts but gets bogged down on theory rather than results. Call nights and call weekends are a joke. Work the clients that walk in or drive in rather than getting hung up on ignoring live bodies so you can document that you phoned 30 people, contacted 4 and set one appointment. You have managers that cannot effectively lead or manage this process.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too many banker training and orientation classes is a sign of turnover. Fix this and your clients will stay loyal, your shops will improve. Better work life balance, manage your managers and teach them how to coach, motivate and reward.
