I worked at Welltec full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

A good place to learn about upcoming e-line intervention technologies. It offers a good complement to slick line, coil tubing and snubbing experience so as to be technically proficient in the intervention domain.

    Cons

HQ is removed and absent and lets the regional management run amok without any safe guards. HR processes are absent and employees are not trained, motivated or rewarded. There is little career development and training is woefully absent. Summary dismissals sometime accompanied by veiled threats are not uncommon. Company values seem to have been corrupted to the point that taking advantage of the customer is accepted and profitability justifies everything and anything. Competition is dissed and rightful pride for creating the e-line intervention domain has been replaced by arrogance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Establish alternate mechanisms to check what regional mgmt are up to. Pay particular attention to the churn rate and investigate why. Hire the field personnel with a 10 yr outlook so that they are qualified to graduate to other jobs after finishing field life. Train your employees thoroughly and give them responsibilities and decision making power. Believe and invest in your employees, the rest will take care of itself. Stop pretending other companies are laggards and refocus on serving (not using) the customers. Develop a truly international company as opposed to regional satellites of the Danish HQ. Stop being driven blindly by the fallacy of constant, predictable high growth rate. It never happens for long outside of business books, learn from history and other companies. Invest in proper marketing to understand the market. It is high time that the CEO puts a stop to C-levels infighting and start listening to its employees.

I have been working at Welltec

    Pros

    Growing company with innovative technology.
Opportunities outside of home base, possibly internationally eventually.
Can string together days off and vacation to get a month off at a time.

    Cons

Training is severely lacking in availability, consistency, and depth.
Pay is barely competitive for what they charge clients.
Performance feedback and followup is nearly nonexistent.
Managers will either directly or indirectly hold you back.
Corporate is in Denmark, and they don't understand much outside of their country.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have consistency throughout the company. Adapt to the direct market you are in. Develop people who are proactive and want to grow.
