I have been working at West Coast Bancorp full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The colleagues with whom I work are professional, capable and good natured. The surrounding are clean and the work is a good fit for me.

    Cons

Since 2008 in order to survive financially, it cut staff to the bone. there are no systemic efficiencies or division of labor in what is supposed to be an efficient well-oiled pipeline operation. Without adequate staff and systemic efficiencies, actually delivering on the promise of quick turnaround time is not feasible. This is frustrating for both parties and largely unprofessional.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire adequate staff, effective managers who are more concerned with team success than their own egos and power and give the employees the proper tools to expedite the work process. Also, even "at will" employees should be able to talk to personnel about concerns without fear . Employees should not be fired for unjust cause and then find no one in Personnel wants to even talk to them about it. This is an unfair practice and unethical.
