    I worked at West Corporation

    Pros

They have overtime available just about all the time and the most relaxed attendance policy in the industry.

    Cons

Ignorant, managers who took the job merely to get of the phones. They can't lead themselves much less anyone else....

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This place would actually function better with the good reps just doing the jobs they know to do without the young idiot managers harassing them at every turn...why don't they hire managers that are knowledgeable and at least try to fake some professionalism.

    I worked at West Corporation

    Pros

For those looking for new/better jobs it's quite easy to get accepted....5 minutes after interview
    -Competitive pay, flexible hours
-Easy to move into middle management, providing you can work with ever-changing expectations which are never clearly outlined

    Cons

Should have believed other user reviews prior to accepting position/s:
    - Toxic environment begins in training; trainers have limited knowledge of company protocol, which changes week to week
    - Average tenure is less than 3 months, extremely high turnover
    - Stress of turning away valued customers due to unrealistic expectation of company metrics, and being counseled on losing high volume customers by the same people who tell you to disregard their questions/needs based on timed calls/call volume
    - Company-wide apathy toward workers and customers
    - Lack of respect for the people you are tasked with helping

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire qualified trainers and respect your customers. If a customer is paying for a service, expect that their needs will be met, and don't rely solely on metrics and an outdated/unreliable system to get the job done. Understand that not everyone knows how to use the technology and treat them with respect. The us vs. them mentality has to change. The customers are excellent and deserve to be treated with the utmost sincerity and understanding, even if it means a longer call, you will retain more customers in the long run.

    Pros

They have good benefits and decent pay for someone without a college degree. Unlimited overtime is also a big plus. They also offer tuition reimbursement.

    Cons

The management isn't that great, unorganized, and high turnover rates. I've had 4 different supervisors and I've only worked there for 6 months

A company with good opportunity but terrible management

Former Employee - Customer Service Manager AT&T in Omaha, NE
Former Employee - Customer Service Manager AT&T in Omaha, NE

I worked at West Corporation full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

If you can survive in the company for more that 9 months there is opportunity to get into a supervisor position. But you have to survive the inexperienced and incompetent management that uses the disciplinary system as a means of suppression. So you have to survive and constantly have you job description change daily or even weekly with more work added..

    Cons

The management supervisors, area managers, directors all seem to be on the same page. Write up every employee until they quit or they are terminated. They are always inconsistent in their disciplinary actions. You can be called in for doing something and the management will do the same thing themselves the same day. No one writes management up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop hiring whoever survives long enough and start looking at turnover under some management as a warning flag and not a sign that the manager is doing good. You have poisoned the well of potential candidates in some cities so much that you now have to go to other cities because you have gone through too many cattle (people) in your call centers.
