I have been working at West-Ward Pharmaceutical Corp full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

As an employee you don't have to pay for healthcare (dental included), 401K is matched and life insurance is also covered.

    Cons

The pay is not a competitive one for professional employees. If you have a degree and don't work in production you won't be making any money. Base salary is between $42,000 to $45,000 a year for a lab position. Also there are no opportunities to grow professionally. HR is no good, when it comes to benefit knowledge they know nothing, and also if you have a problem with other employees is very hard to get them involved.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen more to the worker bees, they are the ones doing their job and they know the process. Forget about saving money and listen to their claims. Also increase salaries and keep good talent in your company. When a person does a great job this person is no rewarded but when there is a bad employee this person gets rewarded by staying and keep doing what they do. Good employees get tired of this and often fall to be their best.

    Pros

The only Pro of working at West-ward Pharm.'s is good pay, good benefits. Period.

    Cons

This entire Co.'s management is disengaged to the huge problems that are rampant here (at Cherry Hill). The real work horses in each dept. get burned out, tired of no communication, total disregard to Cherry Hill site who's made this Co., yet you won't find an address, or phone number for Cherry Hill on West-ward website ? That's what's wrong! It's Eatontown, Eatontown. It's a dog and pony show. Way too much capital expense on management salaries. Especially Eatontown, who hasn't made a product or a penny for years. You won't find an organizational chart anywhere here at this Co. Everything is "Because we said so", or because they said so. No common sense. You have to see it to actually believe it. Very catty, egotistical hierarchy here. No company culture at all. The end for this Co. will be in a few years after they lose all their talent from key employee's fleeing, and retirements of key personnel in Facilities, and Mfg. Look for both these NJ sites to close in a few yrs. and ops will move to the recently purchased Bedford site in Ohio. Is Ohio in the Pharm. belt ? Last time I looked, it wasn't and again, talent will be the downfall for this Co.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Terminate most of your upper to middle management. Oh, wait a minute. That's you isn't it. Well, you're way to top heavy in management, security, HR salaries. Not enough headcount in the dept's that are making everyone their salaries. Get rid of the points, and Ultipro. A highly expensive piece of software that could have been put to much more cost effective use. Just the tip of the iceberg. Look for the book coming out soon.

    Pros

Honestly, the only pro of working here was the healthcare benefits. We didn't have to pay for them and it was a decent deductible. Lots of experience gained. It was good to gain the experience and take it elsewhere.

    Cons

Biggest challenge was finding the motivation to come to work everyday, knowing you would be worked like a indentured servant. Lots of cattiness across and within the departments. Promotions aren't given unless someone gets fired or leaves. Raises are like $.25 when you do get promoted. Probably the lowest paying salary within the tri state area for a pharma company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take care of your workers and show them appreciation. Promotions within 2-3 years would be nice

    Pros

Benefits are good no contribution to medical insurance, decent 401k plan.

    Cons

Salaries are low. The company is in trouble with the FDA. The changes being made are too little too late.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the high paid consultants. New managers are coming in from consulting and hiring the people they formerly worked with and for in consulting.

    Pros

The long term employees are really great. Many of these folks have avoided the frequent carnage of working for WW

    Cons

This company will shut down a department, fire the employees and move on with picking up the problems caused by this type of draconian measure as they don't have much of a soul or brain.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The parent company, Hikma, is managed by some serious knuckleheads, separate from the parent if at all possible.

I worked at West-Ward Pharmaceutical Corp

    Pros

There is a twenty word minimum for this field, so all I can say that is good are the benefits.

    Cons

There is a shortage of help in many of the departments. So, people are stretched thin, and they just pile more work on you. Expectations are unrealistic, and the management is too busy to really care about work conditions. There are underhanded, back-stabbing individuals in several departments that go out of their way to undermine you, while smiling in your face and pretending to be your friend. They are getting rid of older workers that have been there a long time by asking them to take this retirement package or move to another department or else, and you have to make the decision on the spot. Upper management is more concerned with getting product out the door, and not worried about the conditions the additional stress of the increased workload is causing. Overall morale is low throughout the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Even though managers are overworked too, realize there is stress from the unrealistic expectations from your workers and someone have the courage to say, "we need to slow down sometimes" to the ever increasing demand for getting product out the door.

I have been working at West-Ward Pharmaceutical Corp full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good mix of old blood and new blood. I work between a woman who has been here for twenty years, and a man who was hired a month ago. Excellent balance of respect for systems, people, and processes currently in place, and desire to improve those systems and processes.
Prove your value to the company, and you will move up (if that's what you want). Some departments very big on encouraging growth and internal promotions.
Great mentorship opportunities with bright people who have experience in the industry.

    Cons

    Occasional long hours and overtime.
Orgainzational change occurs fairly rapidly, which in some cases can be negative.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Regular communications with workers regarding the "big picture" is lacking. Things move very quickly, and employees sometimes feel in the dark when changes happen and they aren't notified.
