Current Employee – been working at WestJet full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Flight Benefits, Outstanding work Culture, Excellent Educational support, Work at home for Call Centre Agents (new)...PROFIT SHARE...it's just the kind of place you're happy to be at for 8 hours a day!
Cons – Most corporate positions are in Calgary, not to much room for advancement if anywhere else in Canada.
Advice to Senior Management – Look for the BEST, not just those willing to live in Calgary. Offer more career advancement opportunities to those working in other centers.

Current Employee – been working at WestJet full-time for more than a year
Pros – The culture is incredible. As all employees are owners, everyone pulls towards the same goals. Creativity is everywhere. The atmosphere is fun and there is great pride in the company. I love wearing jeans everyday.
Cons – WestJet is doing so well that it can be challenging to get free standby travel to some destinations.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep grwoing the company.

Former Employee – worked at WestJet full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – - Valuable brand and name to leverage
- Industry average pay
- Great (flight) benefits
- Owner mentality; generous ESP plan
- Nice, new Campus facility
One of the best large Canadian companies out there. I only appreciated the culture and realized how good the culture was after I left. It is truly unique for one firm to maintain such a culture while growing to almost 10K people.
Cons – - A number of employees tend to "drink the Kool-Aid" too much, which can lead people to make irrational business decisions.
- HQ'd in Calgary
Advice to Senior Management – To retain top talent, investigate a more liberal telecommute or remote worker program. While PORTS are nice for Inflight and Flight Ops team, having the option of living in YYZ or YVR on the business side would be nice too.

Former Employee – worked at WestJet full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Front line workers are top notch. Pilots, FA's and CSA's are the real deal.
Flight benefits are good but have less value with full planes.
Cons – The functional group VP's leave allot to be desired. Flashes of brilliance but overall they are shockingly bad leaders. Lots of churn and no eye for talent. You need to be a chartered accountant in Finance or don't bother looking for progression.
Advice to Senior Management – Hire Canadian VP's only.

Current Employee – been working at WestJet full-time for less than a year
Pros – The goods just keep coming - starting from the initial phone interview to the in-person to the offer stage. Even though I have been with the organization not too long, it doesn't take much time to figure out the culture viz., friendly, caring, safe, respectable and respectfull.....I can go on....
Cons – Have not yet come across anything yet....
Advice to Senior Management – Keep up the good work !

Current Employee – been working at WestJet
Pros – Amazing corporate culture with easy access to senior leaders. A fantastic work environment, beautiful new office building and fun people to work with. Because it's a young company, there are lots of ways to contribute to growth and change, which in turn provides lots of opportunities for employees. Upward mobility is a huge plus at WestJet.
Cons – It's the airline business.....low margin and lots of work. While the airline industry is fun and free travel is a wonderful perk, it seems you're always living on the edge with so many variables out of your control. The price of crude oil and the economic uncertainty make it a very difficult industry!
Advice to Senior Management – Keep up the good work. I am proud to say I work at WestJet! Leaders are open, accessible and highly visible. This is the best place I've ever worked.

Former Employee – worked at WestJet
Pros – The people are very nice, the culture is at par, benefits are ok not the best out there, flying benefits are good but interline could be improved
Cons – schedule, favortism, shiftwork without proper care to detail, to much of people trying to outdo one another for a wow
Advice to Senior Management – Favortism isn't nice, quality of life could improve, rotating schedules in all bases regardless of position, team get togethers, acknowledgement for all work done is great

Current Employee – been working at WestJet
Pros – Good benefits, the ability to pretty much make your own schedule, good base salaries and great airfare, travel and product benefits.
Cons – The initial trainers, managers and VP's are extremly unprofessional. They are know for taking a disliking to some new hires and creating fictional stories to get them terminated. Many new class hires feel they are poorly treated and very disrepected. WestJet is no longer the fun, friendly and caring company it used to be.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep a closer look on what is happening within your company, your managers and VPs. Take an indepth look in many departments and you will be surprised on what is actually going on.
