I have been working at Westcon Group full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    ○ Relaxing environment, great leadership and excellent benefits
    ○ Technology -- Everything just works here, which you are definitely not going to find at another company. They have lots of different systems and tools to use.
    ○ Compensation for employees is very fair.
    ○ People are great

    Cons

    ○ Prefer to hire externally as opposed to promoting from within
    ○ Not as fast paced as what I am used to. Just an observation, not a con.

    Pros

Westcon has great benefits and you get to work from home. You get to work with teams all over the world. They are well equipped for employees working from home such that you don't really feel isolated from coworkers.

    Cons

You work long hours due to time differences of some of your coworkers. This causes some delays in finishing assignments. There is no clear path to being promoted.

I worked at Westcon Group full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The company supported training, but there was insufficient time to always attend available courses.

    Cons

There is very limited work/life balance. Everyone is expected to work outside normal business hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There needs to be more direct contact between senior management and employees. Senior management spends too much time traveling, rather than managing resources.

Westcon is a decent compay. Good benefits, room for growth, consistent training. You can have longevity there.

Give more consideration to your employees overall, especially those in the day to day operations. Give more and better raises Not just to account managers and VPs.

Great team atmosphere within my working group, exposure to multiple IT experiences, great interaction with the key players in the IT industry.

    Cons

Extremely low compensation relative to the market, little or no training opportunities, extreme lack of accountability and ownership on the part of middle and upper management.
Lack of materials and resources to accomplish unrealistic goals set forth by management.
A wide disconnect between upper management and the workforce.
