I have been working at Western Digital full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The ability to purchase company products on discount is good benefits. And WD offers good bonus based on the profits of the company

    Cons

Not competitive compensation, especially really low base salary. In addition, the benefit provided by Western Digital is really bad.

I have been working at Western Digital full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Bonus' and stock grants, easy to BS Sr. management. Interesting technology but management interested in low cost over quality - as good as previous is the metric.

    Cons

Lack of leaders, communication, and benefits. Lots of slackers, finger pointing and fake schedules. Sr. management does not hold direct reports accountable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Walk around to the front of your desk and look at the window behind your desk. Notice the reflection of your monitor in the window? We do too. When you play video games, don't tell us you are finishing something for your boss.

I worked at Western Digital full-time

    Pros

Fresh college graduates can learn A LOT from WD's cutting-edge technology and related process in the HDD industry, which may benefit the future career. Managers can coworkers are laidback and willing to help. Work-life balance is fine, although some overtime conference call with the international manufacturers may be needed.

    Cons

Company is too large for individuals to see their own roles and impacts. Pays OK but NOT competitive in Bay area.Working atmosphere in office is surely not the best for young people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More dynamics is needed to general employees. Supporting divisions like technicians need some new blood to follow the tech trend.

    Cons

    * Tribal management style....like clans...
    * No appreciation for talents, it is important who you know not what you know...

I have been working at Western Digital full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Stock options and bi annual bonus, some flexibility in working hours, 15 holidays a year, plus minumum 10 days vacation.

    Cons

Lacking transparency in our group/company - not everyone is included in basic information of what's going on -lack of training. The higher ups make buckets of money and the pay is lower than most other tech companies in the area. Our group is understaffed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Transparency is important. Making people feel part of the group is important. There is little or no "team feeling" at the company.
