Former Employee – worked at Western Union full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Upper management supports their employees and invests in training.. The company runs efficiently. You are not a number in this company of 30,000 employees.
Cons – Opportunity for growth is slim due to the company's ability to retain their talent. The company needs to get back to its roots of team building on a national level.
Advice to Senior Management – Thank you for putting your employees first and investing in them.

Advice to Senior Management – Keep doing what you are doing...

Current Employee – been working at Western Union full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – Smart, friendly people passionate about the company's purpose
Career growth opportunities
The industry is challenging and is continuing to evolve
Very collaborative environment
Cons – Sometimes the collaborative environment (a true strength) elongates the decision-making process
It is important to be in the corporate headquarters to advance your career to the fullest (not atypical of other big companies though)
Advice to Senior Management – Keep doing what you are doing -- it will pay off if you stay the course.

Current Employee – been working at Western Union as a contractor for less than a year
Pros – I haven't in my 4 months of Employment heard the usual Corporate America gossip about what a bad place it is to work.
Cons – During the transition of a new CIO it appears that ability to hire Permanent Employees is limited.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep up the Good Work

Current Employee – been working at Western Union
Pros – Working at Western Union was one of the best experiences I ever had. The corporate culture is very tight and supportive.
Cons – Management in Sunrise office is top notch. Denver management is very territorial and not to par with their Latin American division counterparts.
Advice to Senior Management – Letting go of top quality employees isn't going to position you for the future. Be careful with your strategy on this respect. Your company has a lot of potential, don't shoot yourselves in the foot. What happened to "Surfing the waves of change"? Right now, you're drowning in them.

Current Employee – been working at Western Union
Pros – Great, dynamic Leadership that's totally connected with employees. Management consistently makes the effort to go the extra mile recognizing and encouraging employees at all levels and creating "extras" like a health and wellness fair.
There are a lot of just plain good people - smart, hardworking individuals who genuinely care about each other.
Cons – Somewhat limited opportunities for growth unless you are willing to move to global headquarters in Denver (brrr...). Also, there's a tremendous amount of work involved and a bit of a workaholic culture.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep up the great work!

Current Employee – been working at Western Union
Pros – teamwork, leader in industry, fairness and employees treated respectfully and ethically, great benefits, innovative, great branding strategy, top performer, work life balance, amenities
Cons – fast paced, sometimes the communication between upper management and the "doers" is lacking, not always clear career development and advancement paths
Advice to Senior Management – get out and about and visit with employees more, get to know the people that work for you and those that are on the "front lines"
