    Pros

2 week training allows you to learn what you need to know to sell their product. Good way for people with little or no education to make a living, so long as they don't mind lying to get the product sold.

    Cons

Product is worthless so they have to bait-and-switch their presentation...you're pretty much selling air. Anyone can look around on the internet and find deals on travel for less than they'd pay annually for a timeshare. Literally the only qualifications to work there as a sales rep are passing a background check and a drug test. The people make the job - and the people here made the job less than desirable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make your managers dress like professionals when they ask unsuspecting old people for $15k for a borderline useless product.

I worked at Westgate Resorts full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Location, staff, dealing with wide variety of people personalities from guests to fellow workers.

    Cons

Did not have proper equipment to do job effectively. Company was not very "employee friendly". Everyone seemed to walk around "on pins and needles". No pat raises given by company in more than four years at time of employment with none in foreseeable future.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Appreciate your employees more. Show it with rewards.

I worked at Westgate Resorts full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Its a good job in that you talk to people all day and meet alot of people from all over the world. In the summer you make pretty good money sometimes.

    Cons

Locations are not always that good unless you produce lots of tours. the pay is 130$ minus the gift (gift being what you have to give away to get the customer to commit to doing a timeshare tour). You get 7.79 or commission. not both but which ever one is higher. The problem is that timeshare has a bad rep and lots of people know what they are and would rather pay full price instead of having to go to a 4 hour timeshare tour that you tell them is only 90 minutes. So all in all its a pretty rough job and its not going to get any better any time soon. The theme parks keep raising their price as well as your cost. So as time goes on the parks get more greedy the savings become less and less and even with a timeshare promo the savings is not worth it. Then you give away all your commission to get them to go and you dont make any money on the deal. So all in all its not that great and very hard to make a living with the job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give the marketing people more money so they can give more money away thus generating more tours, a decent living wage for the employees. Everybody wins .. you gotta spend some money to make some money ..

    Pros

None- it's all lies. They didn't become billionaires by being honest.

    Cons

Like the timeshares they force on poor people, it's all smoke and mirrors. Don't expect to ever be paid ...you will lose money working for these people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I hope you crash and burn soonest.

I have been working at Westgate Resorts

    Pros

Westgate likes to promote within and there are so many positions and locations with Westgate Resorts! Your choices are endless!! On the job training is available.

    Cons

I don't have any cons about the company. But for some reason this application wants a 20 word minimum of cons. It makes you wonder if they want you to talk badly about a company.....

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I don't have advice for management.

    Pros

Above. Westgate is now in Federal bankruptcy. Banks stopped loans in 2008, therfore the $ stopped flowing. The owner,David Segal was a huge money spender for himself and his family and friends. They produced the movie "House of Versailles."

    Cons

Above. Have money in reserve like Hilton and Marriot. They carry their own paper.
