Pros
They seem to pay pretty well. The fellow employees are extremely nice and helpful. My boss wants to help me succeed.
Cons
They do not have enough people in my depatment. They don't like to spend any extra mone on anything. I have to work a lot of overtime.
Advice to Senior Management
I would have them add some people to make work more efficent. They do not have very many admin assistants to help.
Pros
You can use vacation when needed without scheduling it. Workconditionsare clean and the people who work there are friendly. Tuition reembursement if managemant thinks it is relavent to your job position.
Cons
Lack of communication. Top management only worried about themself. Lower than normal salaries. Very little growth oppertunity unless you are brought in by senior management. Can not take classes to prepare yourself for another position.
Advice to Senior Management
Take care or your employees, they areyour main assets.
Pros
Decent pay, decent benefits, and great co-worker. Work can be dirty at times, but its something a bit different everday. Liked the feeling of helping the world go around by keeping the trains brakes in proper condition
Cons
Management is picked by a contest of how much brown nosing you can clock every week. If you want to show up for work everday early and stay late, while being at work all weekend and not doing anything but brown nose. Then you will get fit in great.
However, if you show up on time and go home ontime and do twice as much as the people that are there twice the amount of time, they will use you abuse you and throw you out on the street! I worked alot of overtime and they loved me. But then I started college and had to cut back so that I could attend class and still have time for my family. This ead them to hating me and then laying me off just 3 weeks before graduation and 3 months before being fully vested in the 401K.
Management tells customers that we do everything by the book and expect the employees to do it by the book when being watched. However, when nobody is watching, cut corners, cut cost; heck, how cares if its donr right just get it on the truck.
Kansas City, MO Pneumatic Managers motto is "Do what I say not what I do." He says to be honest and do what is right, however he just wants it done and if its not right owell, just get it on the books so he can get his bonus! He wanted equipment signed off so that he could save the labor hours for the brown nosers to be there all weekend not doing anything. He doesn't want the workers to take the time and money needed to insure quality, he just wants quanity!
Advice to Senior Management
Promotions should be based on knowledge of work being completed and a sense for people and getting the job done RIGHT. However you focus on clocked hours of brown nosing.
I tested/maintained the test equipment and everything ran smoothly, but then you wanted to cut cost and told me to stop, then got mad at me because all the equipment started breaking down. Well guess what neglected equipment will break down.
Honesty needs to be worked on, I was hated because I refused to sign test sheet. I will not sign a test sheet for something that I didn't test. The equipment is supposed to be tested every 30 days like I did, not signed every 30 days and patch repaired when problems accure.
Equal Employement means hiring and keeping a diverese set of workers. Hiring Hispanics all the time and only promoting them is not being equally fair to white workers.
Pros
Fairly stable company, interesting products, good people to work with, work/life balance does exist. The corporation carries no debt. Well run at the very top.
Cons
At the divisional level, it is too tactical and not strategic. Lack of true innovation. Too many people just worried about getting the next job out and not the long term health or opportunities of the industry. HR benefits are meager. Office decor is depressing.
Advice to Senior Management
HR needs to get more creative and flexible - more vacation, flexible hours, some form of incentive based pay for the "little guy". We are not all locomotive assembly workers. Cater more to what white collar professionals expect and can find in other companies.
