I worked at Westmed Medical Group

    Pros

Decent salary. Good hours if you don't have children that may require you to leave early due to emergencies.

    Cons

They will find a way to hold you back.Schedule changes are not beneficial to the employee. No room for advancement. 1/2 hr lunch. You don't get to get to know your coworkers because you're worked like a mule. DO not work here if you are a single parent.

I worked at Westmed Medical Group part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The environment and work area is small but nice and friendly. If you like a laid back environment you will like this place. It is not as fast-paced as some of its competitors but their pay is better than most in the industry.

    Cons

Their benefits are not as good as I would like. Management is also lacking and not very effective in ensuring quality and productivity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide periodic training to management and employees.

I worked at Westmed Medical Group full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

For a call center job, it offers competitive pay (Charlotte area), decent benefits, paid time off, and no overnight hours. You are basically a secretary in a call center environment scheduling appointments. I worked for internal medicine.

    Cons

Since this is a call center, you are micromanaged. You will know about it if you are a minute late for your break. You have to ask to use the restroom. There is a highly scripted set of phrases, greetings, and goodbyes you must follow. Your calls are listened to and scored. Communication is poor between the doctor's offices and the call center. Patients are often frustrated, they assume you are in their doctor's office, not a contact center a 3 hour flight away. Westmed does try to, although not blatantly, hide the fact that they moved their contact center to Charlotte. Cheaper pay, taxes, etc. Westmed is an aggressively for profit healthcare institution. Also, not as easy as you'd think to get a promotion-and if you do, it's still in the call center!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management was supportive, although overly concerned about the bottom line on the upper levels. Take a broader approach. Companies that are concerned about innovation and great ideas, ironically, make a greater profit in the end than companies simply concerned about making money.

    Overworked, under appreciated

I worked at Westmed Medical Group full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    -Gaining experience
    -Fast paced environment
    -connect with some good people

    Cons

    -Overworked
-not appreciated for the work you do
-personality/perception far out ways your actual work performance. You can be a great performer and do your job well, but if your personality and perception doesn't match this "cult" mentality then you are out of luck.
-People are put into management positions who do not have the experience in managing employees or taking accountability for their actions. A manager should be able to make remedial decisions on his/her own without going to their director.
-Salaries are not in line with market demand. Under paid for the work they expect you to do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put capable people in management positions. Pay for the work that is expected. Base performance on the work and the results, not solely on personality. This is how you lose good people.
