    I worked at Wet Seal

    Pros

Make lots of friends and regular customers. Very good sales for customer. Generous employee discount. Partnered with sprint

    Cons

District manager is terrible, she cannot accept responsibility for her actions when she has to answer her managers questions. District manager is rude, she will not promote within no matter how good you are if she doesn't like you. And she gossips. To her employees!. But wet seal is a great company and I grew a lot there

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I was an assistant manager so I know teamwork regarding management would be great as well as giving props where they are due. Give am equal amount of negative and positive comments

    Pros

Nothing but horrible lies and misleading hard workers

    Cons

Everything about this company explains why they are going in the toilet.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked with an amazing team, it was the corporate people who ruined everything.

I have been working at Wet Seal full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Employees are dedicated and have a lot of passion for the brand. The team is invested in making the company profitable.

    Cons

Company is very confused on who their target customer is. The company keeps buyers who aren't buying the right product. Buyers buy horrible merchandise and the company promotes them. Makes no sense at all. Company pays DM's who never go to their stores high salaries but the DM's who are in their stores and are developing their teams get low salaries. Company makes it impossible for DM's to make bonuses even if they exceed last year sales.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A lot of work is head if you want to #savetheseal. The field is invested but corporate continues to make the wrong decisions. I hope they realize they are the problem so Wet Seal can come back strong.

I have been working at Wet Seal part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Discount
    -Store Manager
    -Friendly Co-Workers
-Experience in most aspects of retail

    Cons

-Not much opportunity for growth or raises
-Only get breaks if working over 5 hours
    -Expectations for shipment are unrealistic

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No matter how difficult things get, don't let the sales associates know you're stressing. I causes an imbalance in moods in the workplace. Also, a 15-minute break would be appreciated for 5 hour or less shift.

    Pros

I worked at Wet Seal full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

40% discount I used for my daughter. They want me to put 20 words so let me think if there was anything else...nope.

    Cons

No structure, horrible upper management, no back up from corporate when following their policies. No communication, was told over the phone by DM we would be closing in 3 days with no severance and no payout of sick time or PTO. Constantly changing your shipment days making it impossible to schedule accordingly. No payroll. Couldn't even write up employees unless a written copy was approved by DM and HR, which took weeks to get. Never got approval for days off. Seriously, I can go on and on. Just don't do it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Where to start?
Don't lie, respect the front lines and backbone of your business. The people you tossed away were how you were able to get that 95,000 raise John Goodman. You should be ashamed. #forgetwetseal

I worked at Wet Seal full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

SM team really worked well together

    Cons

    Regional Managers never do anything
lots of cattiness behind closed doors
Company flat out lied about closing locations
were told to wait on paperwork so people would not have to be given raises timely
passed on raises and raises were given to other managers due to favoritism
most qualified members of the team who were promoted within got paid thousands less
    personal life constantly being interrupted

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

get it together and just be REAL with employees

I worked at Wet Seal full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I have nothing good to say about this company. I guess the only thing good was the discounts.

    Cons

The DMs were the worst to work with. Forget about taking a vaca because it will never get approved even when its a non black out period. If you had a family member pass away it was like pulling teeth to get time off to go to the funeral. If you are a manager forget about having a life as you are expected to work 24/7.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are better companies to work for who will treat their associates with respect and show some appreciation. So move along and apply for something else.
