    Pros

They paid pretty well and I liked my co-workers.

    Cons

They are no longer the company they once were. They claim to care about employees (using their "safety culture" as evidence) but really they only care about shareholders and the bottom line. They've have no consideration for their employees demonstrated by the fact that when the Boise location closed and they offered many employees relocation to Federal Way, they didn't bother to mention that the Corporate office would relocate to Seattle by 2016. Now all those relocated employees who bought homes south of Federal Way are stuck with a 2-hour+ commute to Seattle in heavy traffic. Thanks so much. Your ethics really stink.

    Advice to Management

You need to work on honest and ethics or you will continue to lose valuable people. If the new CEO stays on his current path, he'll run the company into the ground. Shareholders beware.

    Pros

It used to be a great place to work but has went downhill quickly. Work life balance has changed with layoffs and increases in work.

    Cons

Constant layoffs then rehiring and realizing they need to layoff again, moving to a bad part of Seattle and questionable ethics in upper management.

    Advice to Management

With constant decrease in benefits and poor treatment of long term employees there should not be an expectation of loyalty with current employees.

    Pros

After retirement there are no pros. When putting in your life work and Weyerhaeuser turns you into a liability and pulls the rug out, what Pros can you give.

    Cons

They Terminated Health retirement plan and now they are Terminating the Retirement Plan. you are next when you retire.

    Advice to Management

Treat the people who put in 110% for Weyerhaeuser while employed, give the respect they deserve and not them a liability after they leave.

    Pros

The pay and annual raises were good. The company has an excellent safety program.

    Cons

In mid level management, there are no opportunities for advancement unless someone retires or leaves the company. Does not have a good employee development program.

    Pros

Interesting and varied work with highly talented co-workers. Flexible work schedule. Beautiful setting in the woods. Great short term profit sharing.

    Cons

New CEO has quickly changed the R&D culture from innovation to bean counting. Short term view makes me question the long term existence of R&D. Corp is moving to Seattle, divorcing any connection with the existing community. Middle management has difficulty in planning and communicating the future. Specific business focus means no one has an eye on "outside the box" opportunities that cross business lines. What used to be a culture of constantly developing innovative products has digressing into the maintenance of commodity products. Good for short term, not so much for long term . . .

    Advice to Management

Start planning a long term strategy, communicate this to all and execute to those objectives as a company. Be concerned with how to manage R&D more efficiently so that cost control doesn't just mean laying off people.

    Pros

Stated mission, values vision are very positive. Company with a great history and reputation. Lots of great people still work there. Great benefit package.

    Cons

Actions speak louder than words and there is a disparity between what the company says and how it actually treats its employees in recent history. The importance of strong HR support and people values seems to have been lost somewhere along the way.

    Pros

Lots of good people work at Weyerhaeuser, but it is definitely an older workforce. They are an interesting place to learn tons of things.

    Cons

Instability of jobs at Weyerhaeuser, some managers that shouldn't be managers, negative atmosphere. New CEO appears to carry only about stock holders, no longer are the employees the #1 asset!

    Advice to Management

You have folks with awesome experience, utilize them. Make your employees feel like they matter like the old Weyerhaeuser. We don't want to work in Doyleville!

    Pros

Focus on production goes hand-in-hand with support to all personnel. The quality of work is based on the quality of workers and they use local people in their facilities to support the community and ensure the workers have a vested interest in both the community and the company.

    Cons

Very few - harsh conditions due to the facility being a large plant that makes a product requiring heat and loud equipment. However, all necessary actions are taken to make employees as comfortable as possible to prevent heat stress and hyperthermia!

    Advice to Management

Maintain the consistency of the safety and production focus on the facility and workers. Listen to them when they have concerns and do what you can to abate any problems when they are little before they get worse and employees lose confidence in management.
