Fostering positive change . . . .

Administration and Support (Former Employee)
Plainville, CT

I worked at Wheeler Clinic full-time for more than 5 years

ProsBeing part of a team of people dedicated to improving the lives of clients, students and the communities we live in.
Good health and retirement benefits.

ConsVery lean, and resource constrained organization.
Gov't program funding makes it very difficult to be equitable and consistent.
Difficult work, staffing and retention risks, potential burn out.

Advice to Senior ManagementClinical and direct care work is important and is the 'true' work of the clinic, but lack of focus on infrastructure, development and equitable practices will leave employees feeling overwhelmed and unsupported.

No Raises and Grant Driven Work

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Wheeler Clinic full-time for more than 3 years

Proslots of vacation time, 3 weeks during year one, 4 weeks during year two. plenty of training

Consin some areas - no ability to advance. work is grant drive- once the grant runs out you switch your focus or lose your job. They don't hire the best people for the job they just move them around.

They are trying to stay on top of the new trends in behavioral health and primary care but they have no knowledge of health care.

Up until July there was no ability to earn a raise no matter how hard you work. They will not give a market analysis to employees just managers. It's becoming to top heavy with managers

Advice to Senior ManagementPay your employees more. don't rely on grants to guide your work
