It's a good job but there's a lot of people who come and go and they don't pay fair.

I worked at Which Wich part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    - Free sandwich and drink every shift
    - Nice coworkers
    - Can be a fun atmosphere

    Cons

    - The managers would force a couple people to leave before their shift end if it wasn't too busy.
    - Working during lunch rush was a complete mess and very stressful.
    - We were expected to complete a number of tasks before closing. Sometimes this was just not possible, so they would make us clock out but STILL continue to work.
    - They force you to throw away all the baguettes at closing. Not allowed to donate or take home. Lame!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Nice manager, but unexperienced
    - Higher management (store owners) either did not train well, or didn't put much thought into hiring a solid manager. This eventually led to many problems.

    Pros

    Free which per shift
    Fun customers

    Cons

Not enough pay(took two years for a raise and the only reason I got one is because I became a shift leader)
Upper management doesn't see you as human or care about personal life/issues

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward employees for the hard work that they do vs paying them little to nothing bye expecting the works out of them.

    Pros

Flexible schedule, especially if you have daytime availability. Thorough training, and daily duties assigned by talents within the team. An upbeat atmosphere with great costumers.

    Cons

Low compensation. Many coworkers were unmotivated/not focused on getting the job done well. It's a good started job, but not a sustaining career.

    Pros

Easy job once you get the hang of it.
Flexible scheduling if I need a day off.
    Opportunity to advance is there.
Pay is good. Job security is good.
    Customer interaction is great.
Love to see the diehard regulars

    Cons

It makes it hard when you are on shift wth new hires.
    Learning curve is high.
The amount of information to absorb as a trainee is too much.
    Menu is too big

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Proper training/staffing at peak hours would minimize problems.
Sift out the employees that are there just for a paycheck.
Get rid of the sandwiches that are only ordered 1/day or 1/week
    Get rid of the lettucewich.

I have been working at Which Wich part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Good employee discount, good locations around Austin, good food, decent training, relatively flexible schedules, good for students who need a little extra cash

    Cons

Worked at the UT location (24th and Guadalupe, Austin, TX) and the management was awful. Store manager had highly unethical work practices, tended to schedule people at weird times. Worked as a cashier and never had enough time to count my till before I had to take orders. Also, they encourage you to leave your log in number so others can use your till if you are not available. If till came up short at the end of your shift, he made you give up whatever tips you got that day to cover it. Pay is awful. Store manager promised tips but then took them away. I was promised two shirts and a hat/visor, worked there two months and only got one shirt and the visor. Asked repeatedly for another shirt, even asked for an extra and would pay, store manager brought shirts a size smaller than I had asked on two different occasions. New hires went for weeks without uniform because store manager refused to make the trip to the warehouse. Store manager does not listen to the requests of employees. There was a request for a new plunger for the women’s bathroom, that request was never fulfilled. I requested a certain day off every week for doctor’s appointments and other various errands, store manager constantly scheduled me that day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Store manager needs to be replaced. Also, a pay increase would be exceptional because it is hard to live off minimum wage and try to save some for a rainy day.

    Co workers felt like family
Free sandwich if you worked that day

    Cons

    High expectations
    Low pay
    Low amount of hours
    High learning curve
Didn't feel like my job was secure
A lot of customers hated the menu and ordering system
People thought it took too long for their food

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Owner and management talked about employees behind their backs. All around unprofessional.

I worked at Which Wich part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

My coworkers really felt like family, including the manager and owner of the location. It was my first job, and I still miss it to this day! Loved the relationship I got to build with my frequent customers, and how the best workers got credit! I was able to get several raises in the 3 years I was employed there, which is a lot for a minimum wage food worker! The "vibe" we all created at the store was fantastic and it felt like my home away from home.

    Cons

Would love to see the employees get payed more, but I understand it depends on how much the store itself is making. Also, allow tip jars! We deserved it!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pay employees better, including managers!
