I have been working at White House Black Market part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great location to work at Amazing family feel amongst employees Plenty of opportunities to get extra hours if you want them Great mall to work at

    Cons

The only downside is the company cannot decide what they want to do. They are constantly changing policies and procedures.

    Advice to Management

Pick a course of action and stick with it for longer than six months. Thats the only way you will know if it works.

    Pros

-Great coworkers -employee discount -flexible schedule -potential for commision

    Cons

-Low pay -varying hours -hourly pay but want a salaried work ethic -limited advancement -management structure

    Advice to Management

Hard-work at any job is a given but an employee should not be penalized when they are not at your beck and call when they are an hourly employee.

I worked at White House Black Market full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Beautiful clothing. High potential to earn lots of bonus money per sale. worked in flagship store so that can be stressful. just surround yourself with good people

    Cons

have to say hi to everyone coming in. hard to do when you have lots of tasks, shipment, markdowns, etc. experience depends on DM. some are great and some not so much

    Advice to Management

help associates understand how to balance workload with customer service. unless you can invest payroll for a greeter, and you are expected to do markdowns, shipment, floor set, etc... you can't say hi to every customer in first 5 seconds

I have been working at White House Black Market part-time

    Pros

You get paid to try on clothes for an hour each shift, laid back environment, management can be friendly enough, decent pay

    Cons

You don't get paid that well, and they say you'll make more money by having bigger sales, but you really don't make that much money. Everyone is catty, they gossip, they'll tell you that a dress looks beautiful on you and turn around and say it looks ugly. They push sales on customers even though they know the customer doesn't want those items. They say they're interested in you, and in the middle of you talking to them they walk away. Managers use their phones at work. We close at 9pm, but the manager doesn't lock the door so we have stragglers until 10, and sometimes we have customers still shopping at almost 11pm. If I'm scheduled until 9:30, I want to leave by 9:30-9:40 at the latest. No respect for personal life outside of work. Dropped me to 8 hours a week. I was told I would have about 20 hours a week.

    Advice to Management

Boost pay, get rid of the bonus scale, stop forcing employees to push sales on people that the customers clearly don't want, hire less people, more hours

    Pros

Fun yet professional management and coworkers, personal stylist to customers, commission was higher when I first started

    Cons

Minimum wage for an experienced top UPT sales associate, New management came in like a wrecking ball, pushy attitude made everyone quit, lead sales stole commission, reduced commission range after a while, small store so we always ran out of sizes

    Advice to Management

better-train your management, lose the attitude, teach employees not to steal sales or pay more hourly & lose the commission portion
