I have been working at WhiteWave as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

This place is a launching pad for me , as it gives opportunities to students who are willing to learn from there superiors , the staff is very friendly and a great opportunity for students to have a first hand experience of the real world .

    Cons

I haven't had any bad experience with the staff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Giving more opportunities for the students to work for a longer time, like introducing co-op programs would help the students see the development of there inputs and that can make the intern a confident employee for the future of the company.

    Great Environment but Bad Management

I worked at WhiteWave full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The operators at the Mt. Crawford facility are great to work with and really help to provide a family atmosphere. They will help most new supervisors in getting to know the machines and procedures.

    Cons

Doing the actual supervising and recording the data for the management meetings is easy. Getting to know the systems in the facility takes time but the employees will help. Upper management is what makes this job hard. They put everything on the supervisors. Also, as a new supervisor, be prepared to get paid less than a lot of the operators you supervise. Also, you are expected to be completely devoted to the facility, sometimes over your family or other obligations outside of work even though they will tell you that family is always number one.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Firstly, managers need to get out on the floor more and be visible to the operators. If brought up in conversation, most of the operators wouldn't be able to recognize upper management employees if they were standing in front of them. Secondly, off days are off days. If a supervisor calls out, yes call the supervisors that are off for cover but don't try to force them in unless you want to start paying true overtime or giving comp time. Salaried employees cannot be forced to come in on their scheduled days off. The other option would be to make supervisors hourly employees but that would cost the company more money with the amount of overtime that supervisors are "required" to work.

    Pros

    Starting Pay is fair.

    Cons

No advancement, training and development opportunities. You're pretty much stuck where you begin.
No pay scale or increase program.
    No departmental cohesiveness.
    No communication.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at WhiteWave full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Not a bad name to have on your resume, for now at least.

    Cons

No opportunity for growth, despite constant recognition for your hard work. HR policies are inconsistent depending on who you know. Only the yes men and women survive. There is no accountability for poor decision making. The processes are pitiful. There is significant greed at the top.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Question your values.

    Pros

They give you free BBQ's and beer. That is about it..

    Cons

They pay senior management and the stockholders before they will pay their own employees. You will not benefit from good performance as it is sucked up by Mr. Engles and the board. They set record growth in 2013 yet employees got nothing from it. Doesn't add up...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you do not pay employees they will lose incentive and leave. It will catch up. 2014 could be rough....
