  1. I loved working there. Everyone is happy when they are buying jewelry.

    Pros

You get to share many celebrations with your customers, weddings, birthdays, etc.

    Cons

I worked there when the economy was bad and jewelry is a luxury item so that made things more difficult.

    Advice to Management

They are no longer in business.

  2. Not the best experience

I worked at Whitehall Jewellers full-time

    Pros

I met a lot of great people during my time at Whitehall. I learned quite a bit about the jewelry industry and how I wanted to advance my own personal career goals within that industry.

    Cons

It was not a positive experience. Management was interested in meeting sales goals but not interested in giving staff the tools to meet those goals. The result was a great deal of general unhappiness and turnover.

  3. The store performed above expectations, so I had little supervision.

    Pros

Whitehall had many long term employees, this was because they felt that they were treated well by upper management. The stores were located in the prime malls and the company always had a strong promotion at holiday times.

    Cons

Whitehall declared Chapter 7 Bankruptcy (liquidation) and is no longer in business

    Advice to Management

    N/A

    Pros

When family was involved, it was great.

    Cons

Difficult last few years, but great memories..

    Advice to Management

When things got tough, they tried to do too much...good intentions, but too difficult. Should have stuck to the basics.

    Pros

Employee discounts are higher than most of their competitors, Very flexible scheduling, 401K and other "full-time" benefits available to part-time employees.

    Cons

Low pay, Inept and unstable corporate management, No corporate support of Retail Locations, No fixed policies or structure, Very slow inventory restock

    Advice to Management

Supporting the Retail Managers with sufficient and dependable inventory shipments, and timely processing of special orders would have made a huge impact on employee morale and store profit.
