    Pros

I really like that the management trusts that you will do a great job. They are very ambitious and work hard to please the customer as well as find ways to expand. There is a lot of room to grow, especially since they want you to grow in your knowledge.

    Cons

Can't think of any cons to be honest.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing a great job!

    Pros

    - Great reputation in the industry - Both financial and manpower resources are available - Income potential is strong for sales - Benefits are strong - Strong national presence - Good folks

    Cons

    - Regional management may not be as strong as it needs to be (education, experience, management skills). - Project management ranks are a bit weak in capabilities and experiences which can cause some projects to struggle - Motto might be less is more, they tend to work people to the point of exhaustion at all levels in an effort to run lean. - Just too much to do with the available manpower resources which causes mistakes and lost profit opportunities - Can be very "high school" unfortunately - Internal processes can cause tremendous back ups and frustration although it is recognized that in many causes they are for good intentions

    Advice to Management

Listen to your team, your staff. I agree with a previous review where good engineering skills or the fact you like someone does not necessarily make them the high paced, effective leader that the company needs in all positions. They step over or 'on' very good people that are both very capable and willing to help the company more. However the issue right now is top management surrounds themselves with several folks that are not always the best people available but rather will tell them what they want to hear. Not a good practice in trying to become what they want to become I feel. There is so much potential given the available resources and connections in the industry however with the above situation, growth in sales and profitability is greatly limited.

    Pros

Positive culture Solid reputation in the industry Management that, in general, seems to care and encourage No games played with commissions I work for an expanding profitable branch and commissions are on the rise Lots of hard workers that support me and my customers

    Cons

Communication from the top down is improving, but not great A mix of upper management types. Some that seem to be passionate about the industry and success and a few empty suits that spout good slogans then run away when you ask a question Interbranch cooperation and communication needs to be reviewed. Almost like we work for a different company than they do in other cities.

    Advice to Management

Continue to hire quality, smart people that are positive and embrace the stated Whitlock values Continue to improve communication and processes down the chain of command and across the various branches.

    Pros

Very stable, privately owned company. Good people to work with.

    Cons

Upper management disconnected from those who do the work. Internal processes are complicated and slow. Highly resistant to modification or change. Slow to respond to customer needs.

    Advice to Management

Listen to people on the ground - they are the face of Whitlock trying to explain why it takes two weeks to get a part ordered for them.

    Pros

Good work life balance. Management gives you the freedom to learn, make mistakes, and grow. Good training resources.

    Cons

Career progression and pay increases are slow and minimal. Pay is competitive but raises can be less than a dollar.

    Advice to Management

Provide more on the job training opportunities to techs who wish to branch out of support and learn from higher level employees.

    Pros

Great people, great big name clients, consistent workload.

    Cons

Non existent culture. Company promotes "Whitlock Cares" but these is not a mantra acted upon by management. Don't expect support or assistance from management as you are only a number at this company unless you are "buddies" with the right management. Many employees have strong concerns about how the company takes care of customers and employees.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees, provide support, replace regional management with talent that cares about clients and employees more than the bottom line.

    Pros

If you love TECHNICAL, these guys play with the BIG BOY TOYS!! They are at the top of the food chain when it comes to high end / high profile projects. They do a great job of selling a POSITIVE CULTURE... This was the most technical team i have ever worked with.

    Cons

The transition from a Big/Small Company to a Small/Big Company has created several internal issues. Not everyone agrees that some of these things are issues. Local management has main focus outside of local branch and doesn't have a good finger on the PULSE of the branch. Current technical leadership leaves a lot to be desired and is the main cause of several outstanding employees to leave. Corporate management roles out policies and procedures without accountability to local branches for adherence . Pay is at the low side for the industry.

    Advice to Management

Really listen to what your employees are saying. Live out the culture you are preaching.
