Pros
Warm environment
encouragement and recognition for jobs well done
constructive criticism
friendly management
great discount
fantastic, regular training opportunities
Cons
The pay is low, although it's probably more than other grocery stores offer.
My store didn't offer much room for advancement in my department, because the managers had been there for years and probably weren't going anywhere.
There wasn't enough money in the budget to pay experienced workers or hire according to regional recommendations, because those long-term managers had such high salaries. Usually, department heads move on or switch stores, which means better opportunities for advancement. Most of my department had been in the same store, in the same department!, for years, which meant that the department hired from outside (me) to stay within budget. I was inexperienced in sales, so I received the base salary.
My hours weren't what I was promised - full time - because, once again, there wasn't room in the budget at all times.
Overall, I think most of the issues listed above are per-store.
