I have been working at Wichita Public School District USD full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I never felt that my job was demanding. Basically no one cared how good you were at teaching as long as students and parents didn't complain. The support and collaboration are good.

    Cons

The district claims to be supportive of all but clearly is still backwoods when it comes to accepting anything progressive. Very hypocritical because they post that everyone is accepted but the administration clearly does not feel that way.

I have been working at Wichita Public School District USD full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

It is rewarding to teach students and work with other teachers who are passionate about their teaching careers. I enjoy this part of my job.

    Cons

If you work with a bad principal, watch out! The district administration will circle the wagons and not move that principal until he or she has ruined the school they are at. It happens again and again.

    Advice to Management

    MOVE BAD PRINCIPALS!

I worked at Wichita Public School District USD full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good benefits and general pleasant atmosphere (depending on what department you're working with) among staff. Fantastic for employees with families as time off and holidays are substantial.

    Cons

Declining pay scale over the past decade compared to other business sectors in the city. Very poorly structured growth plans and advancement charts--no way to make a 'career' with the district as migration up a ladder is almost impossible.

    Advice to Management

Address career growth and compensation issues; look at focusing on 'modern' working conditions for those who don't need to be in an office.
