I worked at William Beaumont Hospital

    Pros

Time off and people outside my office were always kind and caring. I'm sure glad that I had previous jobs were it really counted.

    Cons

Co workers made the office atmosphere pure hell...I guess you could say the office culture was terrible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You really should speak more with your employee's and get to know them. They literally run the place, my last years there, were hell and everyone turned a blind eye to it. Thanks!

I worked at William Beaumont Hospital full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

It's a great place to learn a lot if you like working for a large corporation. Most of my co-workers have been pleasant to work with. Although benefits are slowly being taken away, they still compare to other hospitals. Pay is slightly above other hospitals.

    Cons

The largest "con" is upper management. They were quick to eliminate jobs that had direct impact on patient care, yet they never looked to see how "fat" upper management was and how some of those positions could be eliminated instead. There's a lot of "red tape" at Beaumont. Too many levels to have to go through, I agree, but eliminate the positions that actually "work"? Not just sit pretty behind their desk with their fancy suits and attend meetings all day? I feel I have a right to say this because I was a manager and I've attended some of those meetings. They're clickish and some of them are just "feel good" meetings. I also understand they want to keep the property looking nice but I've literally seen them put in trees one year and dig them up the next. This gets to be expensive as employees are losing benefits.I know, I know...different budget. See...too much red tape. Sounds like the government. Beaumont is basically getting TOO BIG! It's losing that personal touch that it once had.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at upper management positions and eliminate those that aren't needed anymore. Stop preaching that everyone at Beaumont is "family". When I was snuck out the back door and escorted to my car by security without even getting to say goodbye to my staff, I didn't feel like "family". In fact, when security hung around my car until I left Beaumont property, I felt like a common criminal! So either practice what you preach or don't bother preaching. Just a few years before my job was eliminated, all the "suits" were shaking my hand congratulating me on all my years of service. Hmm, which is it? Do you want people with many years of service or not? You're sending mixed messages when a lot of positions eliminated were long term employees.

I worked at William Beaumont Hospital full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great co workers and employees. They have their own company insurance although it's not great. Beautiful campus and building to be stuck inside.

    Cons

Company very in debt so the trickle down of stress is very apparent. Huge micro managers, very obvious levels of hierarchy. Employees tend to get stuck a their level and pay, no advancement/growth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of whoever is in charge of company budget. Stop letting the little guys go and start cutting useless middle management.
