I worked at William Paterson University full-time

    Pros

Health care benefits, free parking, lots of local restaurants for lunch.

    Cons

The management and most of the staff are rude jerks. Tension between departments made work more stressful. Adequate training is not provided to new employees. Some directors are self absorbed and patronizing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Use some money from the budget and invest in a few consultants come in to work on team building and people skills.

I have been working at William Paterson University

    Pros

If you are a Full time employee, you can go to school for free. Paid lunch breaks. Walkie talkie given to employees. Paid vacation, sick , and personal time when earned. Fulltime employees are apart of a Union.

Sometimes it takes a while to become Full time when already Part time.

I have been working at William Paterson University full-time (more than a year)

Depending on your department, you will feel like you're a part of a team and you're valued. Most of the students are great and are excited to be at the University.

    Cons

I wish we could earn overtime.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at William Paterson University full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

State benefits are the best reasons to work for this company. With Fridays off in the summer and the ability at the end of the year to earn 4 days of comp time, these perks are pretty cool. If you are looking for a place to start your career then this is the place to be. All in all, I'm glad to have a job.

    Cons

Promotions are difficult. Everyone is competing for the same job that is posted. My salary is $32, 416.90 though I have 9 years of office. a bachelors and master's degree. I got my foot in the door as a clerk typist making $28k. With a union, there is a yearly increase of your salary but my cap is at $36k. So unless you get a promotion you are losing money over time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your employees. Provide a means of promotion that will allow employees to feel as those they are truly getting what they are worth.

I worked at William Paterson University part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

This is easy to fit into your schedule and work around. Meet a lot of new people and good way to network.

    Cons

No room for promotions and it is a stagnant pay. They are way to serious for this position and do not take into consideration the fact that the employees are students.
