They sell a dream and don't deliver

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Tulsa, OK

ProsThey are very well rescpected in the community.

ConsThey have awful managers that work there. They think they are the only player in town. Sell contractors on becoming fulltime then string them along.

Will also rescind offers if they don't get their way!!!

Advice to Senior ManagementHR needs to provide the proper training to hring managers on actual ethical hiring practices.....Once you make offers to people you should not rescind them for trival reasons!!!

    ConCon

    Accounting (Former Employee)
    Tulsa, OK

ProsThere were some really good people working there, the company encourages community involvement, the industry itself is very interesting.

ConsVery political atmosphere, sometimes hostile unjustifiably. Managers did seem to be on ego trips and not necessarily interested in mentoring their employees, nor in running a quality department. There are very few people there you can trust.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on developing your people and the quality of the output of your department. Stick up for your staff if they are right.

Overall, pleasant - I developed as a professional and I enjoyed my time at Williams.

    Environmental Scientist I (Former Employee)
    Houston, TX

ProsBenefits, flexibility, advancement, environmental, employees. Especially the time I worked in Houston, it was very pleasant for me. I really grew fond of my manager(s) and colleagues.

ConsOffice Politics, running too lean at times, work-life balance. At times it seemed that the politics were heavy with too many people running their own agenda. Towards the end of my time there, the department was very lean and there was way too much to do leading to a very lopsided work-life balance.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay attention to your employees and don't get caught up with egos.

Great company to work for, though they are rather non-competitive in pay.

    Engineer (Current Employee)

    ProsGreat work and safety culture.
    Decent work/life balance.
They are good about getting you the training you need to do your job and grow in your career.

ConsNon-competitive pay. They will get you in as low as they can, and raises do not necessarily reflect your annual performance evaluation.
    Reorganizations are too frequent.

ProsGreat midwestern culture. Most of the people there are team players and not volitile by nature.

ConsSometimes a little too passive and "nice"

Awesome department, but bad feeling about HR

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

Pros-Given responsibilities and opportunity to grow unlike any other company I've worked for
    -Opportunity for self-betterment
    -Volunteering opportunities
    -Everyone is extremely friendly
    -Laidback
-Family type feeling in certain departments

ConsI'm pretty sure favoritism played a huge part and I got the short end of the stick. I worked hard and I saw my coworkers work their behinds off, but there wasn't enough credit to be shared it seemed. Also my HR representative always "joked around" with me, but I felt personally harassed and that she talked behind my back to turn others around me. HR was my only real bad experience, but I personally loved my job in itself. (I still think about it to this day, I'm a rather friendly person and keep out of office politics, and I've never figured out why she was so rude and unprofessional to me)

Advice to Senior Managementbe careful who you hire, there are people I know that tried to get others fired over made-up drama
