Pros
Good stepping stone to cut your teeth in a consulting type of atmosphere
Some very talented and knowledgeable employees here
Cons
Beyond long hours - think new associate at a Legal firm kind of hours. Work/life balance is non-existent. Do not expect reasonable merit raises or performance bonuses. Prepare to be wooed, sucked dry of knowledge and tossed aside
Pros
Gives you exposure to many different clients across the UK
You can take charge of your own role if you want
Cons
You're a part of a team who doesn't have any direction
You have to take charge of your role because no one else will
Advice to Senior Management
Wake up
Pros
Only competitive salary,
ok to join for short term
May get onsite for a week or two but be prepared to sign 1 yr. service bond.
Cons
No respect to employees
Lot of backstabbing
Managers want only sycophants, if u not among them then you will be asked to do all the work and credit goes to their slaves.
You get 2.5 sq Feet space to seat, feels like traveling in local bus
AC works only in corridor.
No Place to sit an relax for a while.
BPO guys are not allowed to carry mobile phone inside.
Pathetic Infrastructure
No employee stays for more than a year or two.
No job Security, May layoff you anytime.
Advice to Senior Management
Waste of time advising them because they may leave the company before you.
Pros
some really great people and friendly atmosphere
Cons
remnueration and benefits could have been better
Pros
Salaries are competitive. A decade ago, promotions at the corporate office were possible from the sites to the corporate office. Promotions within the corporate office were frequent when I was employed there.
Cons
Different culture than when it was a young growing company. It seems corporate is much more distant to site employees. Site employees have more loyalty to their site than to Williams Lea.
Advice to Senior Management
Change the culture. It seems former employees of Pitney and Canon were hired into Williams Lea. Williams Lea was a great small company when it was Donnelley Business Services.
Pros
Good clients, good people to work with not much else
Cons
Only feedback one ever gets is when they make a mistake. Going above and beyond is never recognized. Just about a dead end company to work for
Advice to Senior Management
Use williams lea as a stepping stone for a career in management. Good for experience but not good for a long term career choice. Management goes through the motions but doesn't care about the people that work under them so no advice in the world would change the management culture at williams lea
Pros
Good teamwork on staff level.
Cons
Senior management does not give value to the right people.
Advice to Senior Management
Start giving value to the right people.
Pros
I enjoy a challenge and place to learn new skill sets in different business sectors. The ability to work independently (depending on your role), not being micro-managed. Presenting new ideas, and going above and beyond to service client needs.
Cons
The opportunity to be stagnant, the lack of realistic training and career planning is enough to leave you unmotivated and leave you still in the waters.
Advice to Senior Management
Involvement of employee is key - its the simpler things in life, holiday party, cross training between sites, recognition, visits outside of client needs/requirement.
Pros
It'll give you a paycheck for when you're looking for another job. I honestly can't think of any other pros to work there. Maybe life experience, in that it'll be an experience like no other and you'll understand what it is to feel disrespected and not valued as an employee.
Cons
Williams Lea treats its employees horribly. Inconsistent management, bounced checks, lack of guidance and marginalization are some of the fun things to experience while working there.
My supervisor would call to harass me, demanding I beef up billable hours. It's not like I was an attorney who could drum up some client work. She didn't seem to understand how law firms functioned.
Advice to Senior Management
Respect is a two way street.
Pros
Good benefits packages, fair compensation plan, and the ability to work independently on challenging client engagements. Variety of work keeps boredom at bay.
Cons
At the mercy of your client, if they want you moved or transferred there is no appeal process, you're out. Stagnant compensation package where increases and bonuses are non-existant.
