I have been working at Williams full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Having previously worked in Public Accounting for over 10 years, I definitely enjoy the work life balance, the flexibility to work from home when needed and the health and retirement benefits of working for a large employer.

    Cons

Lack of opportunities for advancement. Organization was "flattened" a few years back. As a result the opportunities for manager roles was reduced.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ensure you maintain the "tone at the top" in all areas, including as it relates to Holiday Parties.

    Pros

Independence, the ability to make decisions quickly. Numerous projects and opportunities.

    Cons

Too many projects and opportunities, too much work to do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't rely so much on software packages and computerized systems to improve communications, project controls, and project performance. Face-to face cannot be neglected. Also- interns and new hires would benefit from a more formalized mentoring process.
