    Pros

Williams has a lot of talented, hard working people who are great to work with.

    Cons

At times senior staff is so busy that they are unable to spend one on one time with you that you need to learn to become really good at what you do.

    Advice to Management

Working at Williams is only part of who we are. Our situations and responsibilities outside of Williams can affect what we do at work (good or bad). It's nice to have a manager that understands that fact and cares enough to be compassionate when you are struggling at work.

    Pros

People in the field are generally good to work with, at least in my department. Good medical insurance generally. Flex hours are good.

    Cons

The general upper level management is only partly effective. General management knowledge is lacking yet some steps have been implemented lately to attempt to change this downfall. Most managers lack general management knowledge altogether. Very few have had one management course and it shows. Technically good but lacking in management. The culture is one of "a good ole boy" network. If your an engineer, your basically in unless you step on the wrong toes. Business and other majors are out and the "Iron Curtain" line is clearly see even by the blindest of employees. Career opportunities are limited as a result. No concern for those in the specialist fields. Disregard for them exist everywhere. Some managers even refuse to associate with other managers. Really bad culture in this respect. Salaries are lower than the industry average yet it is pushed by management that we pay "market value" on salaries. Not so!

    Advice to Management

Get an MBA. You guys need it. Work life balance suffers at times and this is something you need to change now.

    Pros

Benefits, people, work is enjoyable. Work life balance is great.

    Cons

Company is still culturally split making any company wide changes difficult. Best practices are not followed where improvements have been identified.

    Advice to Management

Integrate the company so that standards are followed cross assets and regions.

    Pros

Good industry experience and networking opportunities. 401k match and pension plan after a year or so.

    Cons

Pay is much lower than the industry standard for business professionals. Office culture is very "good-old boy" and geared towards engineers. If you're not an engineer, then you're not as important. Williams is either severely overstaffed or understaffed. In departments with a deficit in employees, employees will be stuck working from 730 am- 9pm at night. In departments where no one is ever let go, there may be upwards of 3 employees sitting at their desks all day doing absolutely nothing.

    Pros

Management listens to employees. Benefits are great. Work-life balance is very reasonable for most positions.

    Cons

Rapid growth breaks older processes, but the company eventually adapts to new conditions.

    I worked at Williams

    Pros

The program is pretty good about keeping you involved with other interns. There are plenty of social events and meaningful work to do.

    Cons

Many days there was just nothing to do. Either I would be waiting on another employee for information or my manager simply didn't have something for me to work on. To be expected as an intern, but sill.

    Pros

Wonderful work life balance, I very much enjoy working here at Williams. Compensation seems to be on the low side but they are working to benchmark and mirror the industry.

    Cons

Processes are still being developed, so its sometimes hard to navigate the system. Its a fairly flat organization and therefore promotions seems to be pretty few and far in between.

    Advice to Management

I have not been here long enough to deliver sounds advice to management.

    Pros

Loved the benefits the company offered their employees. Great environment and people.

    Cons

Like large companies they tend to pigeon hole you to your skill sets that you were hired for. Their salary was a little lower then what market was paying.
