    Pros

Leadership is aligned more than ever and Laura is inspiring to work for. Her management is about results and she is investing in the corporate environment. She encourages work/life balance and rewards hard work.

    Cons

There is still some dead weight that needs to be flushed out but I am sure Laura and the executive team will make it happen.

    Advice to Management

Dont be too day to day in the tracking of results and stay the course.

I have been working at Williams-Sonoma full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Strong financial peformance, great brands, high caliber talent, terrific female diversity, entreprenurial spirit, beautiful offices, competitive pay and health benefits

    Cons

Hard charging leadership with limited resources provided; not much ethnic diversity; limited paid time off for newcomers; limited work/life balance support

    Advice to Management

Take the time to listen to the people who work in your company; improve paid time-off policy; let people work from home occasionally

I have been working at Williams-Sonoma full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Direct management, great people, mentoring, great product, ownership of your business even if you are at a planner level, fun work environment, consistent learning and training

    Cons

Issues with senior leadership. It really depended on the org you were under, but it seemed that it was a much tougher world in merchandising versus inventory management

I have been working at Williams-Sonoma full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Everyone's smart and competent and it's a good place to work so people stay a long time.

    Cons

Hard to branch out into combined strategic + analytic functions.

    Advice to Management

The CEO needs to stop managing in a reactionary manner. Work from home was just cancelled out of a knee-jerk 'feeling' that people are taking advantage of this option. It's a slap-in-the-face to those who used this policy to balance extreme productivity with life's demands. Have more faith in your charges who are already working around the clock to do the best job possible.

    Cons

I just wish I had more time in the day

    I have been working at Williams-Sonoma full-time

    Pros

Strong sense of culture and history; high-integrity people who want to do the right thing; well positioned in the industry and in an industry segment (home goods) that should continue to do well as the economy recovers; great balance between eCommerce and Store retail; lots of reasons why the company should be successful going forward; based in downtown San Francisco

    Cons

Company is very design and merchant driven. If you are not in the design / merchandising areas, then you need to understand your role in the bigger context.

I have been working at Williams-Sonoma full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

What is most important to me today is to work at a place where I feel the leadership likes to win and succeed and also focuses on giving back to the communities where we do business. This exists everyday at Williams Sonoma, Inc. Acting like an entrepreneur is alive and well here which means hard work with a real sense of meaning and purpose.

    Cons

It's retail so you have to love being flexible and not sweating change

    Advice to Management

What do you need from your associates to achieve the growth goals?
