    Great place to work.

Buyer (Former Employee) San Francisco, CA

ProsI met smart, wonderful funny people while working at the corporate office. There was a great focus on customer service and employee education.

ConsThe company felt less personal as it continued to grow.

Well positioned in the industry, good people, good work-life balance

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) San Francisco, CA

ProsStrong sense of culture and history; high-integrity people who want to do the right thing; well positioned in the industry and in an industry segment (home goods) that should continue to do well as the economy recovers; great balance between eCommerce and Store retail; lots of reasons why the company should be successful going forward; based in downtown San Francisco

ConsCompany is very design and merchant driven. If you are not in the design / merchandising areas, then you need to understand your role in the bigger context.

Good place, but loaded with tenured talent

Data Scientist (Current Employee) San Francisco, CA

ProsEveryone's smart and competent and it's a good place to work so people stay a long time.

ConsHard to branch out into combined strategic + analytic functions.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe CEO needs to stop managing in a reactionary manner. Work from home was just cancelled out of a knee-jerk 'feeling' that people are taking advantage of this option. It's a slap-in-the-face to those who used this policy to balance extreme productivity with life's demands. Have more faith in your charges who are already working around the clock to do the best job possible.

Really enjoyed my career at WS

Control Buyer (Current Employee) San Francisco, CA

ProsDirect management, great people, mentoring, great product, ownership of your business even if you are at a planner level, fun work environment, consistent learning and training

ConsIssues with senior leadership. It really depended on the org you were under, but it seemed that it was a much tougher world in merchandising versus inventory management

ProsLeadership is aligned more than ever and Laura is inspiring to work for. Her management is about results and she is investing in the corporate environment. She encourages work/life balance and rewards hard work.

ConsThere is still some dead weight that needs to be flushed out but I am sure Laura and the executive team will make it happen.

I feel good about what I do, and I love my co-workers, but none of us are ever going to get promoted.

Stock Associate (Current Employee) San Francisco, CA

    ProsThe people are great
The management team mostly tries to make you feel good about what you do
You're allowed to be pretty independent

    ConsRaises are really, really small
    Promotions basically don't happen
Limitations on employee discount - doesn't stack with most other promotions
Lacks a culture of cross-training, especially when you're seasonal

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest more time, money and development into your team

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
