I have been working at Williamson County Schools part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The best reason to work there is it gives all students heads up on getting any job in which they are applying for.
The school system gives the student the technology experience in which they will need to be successful.

    Cons

The challenges could be but not all considering would be ethnicity.
And also, staying informed with how the teachers are educating the students,
for example: teaching each student in class, and out of class by giving them real life
languages as to how to dialogue for certain positions and in the adult world.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please just be mindful of the people who comes to work in the system, there are great workers with great skills working in your schools. Please do not let all first time appearances cloud your judgment, I would think that you are looking for people who shares your dreams, vision and mission for education and success.

    Pros

Split shift 2.5-3 hrs each shift. If you are firm with the kids, its a pretty easy job. Benefits, they train you & help you get your license.

    Cons

Some drivers like to complain all of the time. so there can be a lot of drama, but if you stay out of it, its not to bad.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit screwing with hours of Sub drivers.

I have been working at Williamson County Schools full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Williamson County is dedicated to growing students academically and as people. The teachers really care about their students, and it's great to be a part of that environment. The quality of professional development is improving.

    Cons

There are too many one size fits all policies. The stat-wide TEAM evaluation rubric is not teacher friendly. Some administrators are influenced too easily by parent complaints instead of by what is best for the student.

I have been working at Williamson County Schools full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

I love what I do and the people I work with. WCS is probably the best public school district in Middle Tennessee as far as student body and administration, and one of the best in the entire state.

    Cons

Any major frustrations I encounter are going to be had anywhere you teach in Tennessee. The evaluation system is a headache and there is far too much emphasis on standardized testing. Exactly how happy you are in an individual school is probably going to depend a great deal on how you feel about that particular school's administration.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do all in your power to let the teacher's teach! Shield them as much as possible from all the political hodge podge that bombards education these days.

    Pros

Pay & benefits for part time.

    Cons

Better not get sick during school hours. You are forced to work even if unsafe to drive. better be in the clique of you'll never advance. Very unfair, good-ol-boy system.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get impartial management and out w/good-ol-boys & gals!
