I worked at Wilmette Park District

    Pros

Overall a fairly good experience. The management was knowledgeable and helped me to be a better employee.

    Cons

Not really anyone's fault, but it can get hot in the summer! Remember to wear lots of sunscreen and drink water!

I worked at Wilmette Park District part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Solid summer lifeguarding job for high school and college students- you get to work with a bunch of fun people your age and they are very accommodating about scheduling your shifts around other valid commitments like sports practice and summer school

    Cons

some of the higher level managers are extremely disrespectful, yell at their employees for petty things

    Advice to Management

give constructive criticism instead of yelling and employees will respect you more

    Pros

Good work to do over the summer for a HS student. Pay adds up if you get a lot of hours and will be more than babysitting or otherwise. Better than sitting around. You do also get perks like free beach access and I think discounts to the golf course and other park district facilities.

    Cons

Boring, hot. It's a summer job, in general they're not great. But it's not bad for any reason that you wouldn't expect.

    Pros

Beautiful gym and facility, huge programs. Established enrollment.

    Cons

deplorable pay considering the success of the programs and the park district over all. Revolving door for staff

    Advice to Management

Pay your teachers well, consider that most permanant part time coaches are usually exceptional, consistant, long-term adult employees so they should be paid well, especially, if your program is successful.

    Advice to Management

    none

    Pros

There are friendly people there. When you are having a rough day, it is nice to be able to tun to nice, experienced people who will always have your back. It also makes the time fly by much, much more quickly. If those ar important things to you, then this is the place to be.

    Cons

The hours are long. The jobs are boring. There is not a lot of intellectual stimulation to be had with these jobs, but it is a nice summer job.

    Advice to Management

There should be more team-building activities - just kidding.
