Current Employee – been working at Wilsons The Leather Experts part-time for less than a year
Pros – Easy, flexible working hours and schedules
Cons – sizing EVERYTHING, people who come in and do not buy anything, minimum wage
Advice to Senior Management – no advice really since all we have is assistant managers at the moment

Former Employee – worked at Wilsons The Leather Experts full-time for less than a year
Pros – Fair pay and affordable benefits.
Cons – Lack of proper payroll hours, very poor training program, inconsistent policy expectations, excessive marketing and floor set changes, outdated POS systems, very poor stockroom organization systems,
Advice to Senior Management – Your high turnover rate in management positions should be a sign to you that you are not doing enough to support your stores. I have been in retail management for over 10 years and am aware of the high expectations in retail, but yours are beyond reasonable and realistic.

Former Employee – worked at Wilsons The Leather Experts full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Large variety of inventory and quality merchandise; Accommodating & flexible when it comes to scheduling
Cons – Plagued with inadequate & disorganized corporate office employees & policies ranging from their absurd marketing techniques to their arbitrary termination of employees; Lack of professionalism within store & district management levels; Pressure of daily sales goals that are set unrealistically high; Discouraging & abrasive remarks along with constant threats of termination made by the DM based on inconsistent expectations that differ on a regular basis; Lack of appreciation along with little to no recognition for achievements; Raises are virtually non-existent - Only given out once a year to a few employees within management who typically get less than 20 cents; Extremely difficult & unruly customer base exists as a result of confusing sales promotions & signage.

Former Employee – worked at Wilsons The Leather Experts full-time for more than a year
Pros – You learn how to survive in the wild!
Cons – If you love working for companies with the poorest organizational and corporate management skills then this is the perfect place for you. I worked for the company for a year. They never allocated product properly, they never gave you true support (working a lot of long hours alone in the store),the solution they had was always to have me fire my management without true recourse. I personally would suggest to stay as far away from this place as possible. They never seemed to have any true ethical or morale standings.
Advice to Senior Management – Take responsibilty for your mistakes.

Former Employee – worked at Wilsons The Leather Experts
Pros – Learned how to multitask times ten as I was left alone in the most of the time
Cons – Insufficient payroll, impossible bonus program, unreasonable expectations, weak upper management. Long, hard hours left alone in the store
Advice to Senior Management – Implement only one price point. Customers do not comprehend MSRP. Concentrate on goal not DPT. Better employee discount.

Former Employee – worked at Wilsons The Leather Experts
Pros – Management was very polite. They communicated all information with employees. Upper management sometimes gave contradictory information; confused or contradictory expectations around store prioritization.
Cons – Pay raises are very little.

Former Employee – worked at Wilsons The Leather Experts
Pros – If you are looking for a job where you do not want to progress or you just need to make some minimum wage money I would recommend this.
Cons – Upper management is uninvolved and has done a sub-par job of hiring middle management. This company is extremely inefficient in almost every aspect.
Advice to Senior Management – Work with employees rather than sitting on a "high horse"

Former Employee – worked at Wilsons The Leather Experts
Pros – They teach you a lot about the material you are selling, so you don't end up working for a company you know nothing about. Very many well explained videos about security and customer service. There are tests that an employee must take to make sure they know a lot about leather. You get to meet a lot of new people, many return customers. It isn't a hostile environment. Generally easy to work for, lots of free time while at work.
Cons – Very little trust of employees, micromanaging, few opportunities for advancement. Lousy pay. Management was very fixated on selling leather care products and based your performance not on sales of jackets but on sales of leather care products. Very few people come to the store so your daily score can vary and it makes you look bad. A little bit of over management on certain subjects. Constantly suspicious of their employees.
Advice to Senior Management – Pay sales associates better based on experience, don't let the managers put too much pressure on employees to sell certain products, add more variety in clothing/accessories.
