An entrepreneurial and results driven positive spirit will thrive and become an autonomous company president. One can secure a prosperous life. Women are especially welcome and numerous have become affiliate presidents.

    Cons

If one focuses on results he or she will advance. If the one is a standout leader, the affiliate president will sponsor the employees growth. The best move ahead.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

Most employees are allowed to buy into the company. If you believe in their philosophy ownership is a good thing.

    Cons

You work for less than what similar jobs offer in an effort to keep the company (our company) doing well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your anti Nepotism policy is hurting you more than its helping. Its too aggressive, especially when many of your new acquisitions are family businesses.

    I worked at WinWholesale

    Pros

    Company credit card, learning experience.

    Cons

I was fired for speaking to someone in corporate about my interest in opening a new company. They always are promoting their "spirit of opportunity" however they don't seem to be interested in opening any new companies.

I worked at WinWholesale full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The best thing about the company is that each year in December they give around $30,000 to a few employee families in need. The employees donate the $ throughout the year and the President matches the donations.
Local company employees are eligible for profit sharing bonuses. All employees can participate in the employee saving plan that pays an excellent rate.....better than banks and 401k.

    Cons

Not all employees are eligible for profit sharing bonuses. Women and minorities will NEVER make it to the top, so don't waste your time trying.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Extend profit sharing to all employees and develop your HR department.

    Pros

Unlimited opportunities. Control your own destiny. There is currently a push by the COO to go out and get young, competent, driven individuals to be local company presidents. This is the future.

    Cons

Culture is hard to change, getting younger folks into the mix is difficult.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the push to get younger people into leadership positions!

I have been working at WinWholesale

    Pros

Peers and people to work with are great, schedule can be somewhat flexible and pay can be above average for the industry. Good sales people and hard workers can be very successful but only as company owners after investing substantial money into the company. The corporate office is in a good location with easy access.

    Cons

Virtually no opportunities for promotions, no pay raises in 4 years, and very poor health benefits. There is no retirement package available and only people-in-the know are being promoted. Many middle managers have been hired in the last few years slowing down progress, with micro-management becoming a problem. The environment can become quite vicious, a stick rather than carrot approach.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider existing employees for promotions before hiring outsiders. Too many overpaid middle managers who are not being held accountable at all for failing to deliver. The 70s and 80s approach to managing employees is outdated and does not give employees confidence and pleasure about working there. Try to relate to your employees as genuine human beings rather than mere workhorses.

    Pros

Nice people to work with. There is a family feeling to the organization because each local company is relatively small. The local company management is very respectful of employees.

    Cons

Not much room for advancement unless you want to own a company. You have to invest a substantial amount to buy into a company. There is no 401k retirement plan.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Build a better benefits package with a retirement fund.
