I wish they would get it together.

    Dispatcher (Former Employee)
    Austin, TX

ProsCompensation keeps with the city average for a solid position, nothing outrageous though. Corporate has several great ideas about expanding into the American markets.

ConsWhile they have all these great ideas about expansion into the U.S. they haven't really thought any of them through very well. This company has a terrible habit of completely overhauling policies every 3 months if the wind blows a new way.

Wincor Nixdorf USA is perfect for anyone seeking a low paying, under-appreciated job with no possibility of advancement.

    Project Analyst (Former Employee)
    Austin, TX

ProsBecause of the overwhelming work load given to all of the lower level, under-appreciated employees, I was able to get experience in numerous areas, some beneficial to my career and some of which had absolutely nothing to do with my position.

This company makes any other job that you take seem like heaven. In addition, you learn very quickly that throughout any career, you will encounter numerous upper managers that think only of themselves and give almost no thought to the lower level employees actually performing the work.

    ConsAlmost too many to mention.

The first red flags I experienced were the complete lack of training and the obivous signs of a long period of very high turnover. I was hired the same day as three other employees in the same position because all our predecessors had walked out about the same time. It seemed to be a temporary job for all that had come before us just to give themselves time to find better positions elsewhere. I soon found out why.

The senior management is in no way concerned with employee satisfaction. The culture is simply to do your job and keep your moth shut. Suggestions on improvements in any area are simply ignored. The few promotions that are awarded are not accompanied with pay raises, leading to more workload with no additional compensation.

Starting in Jan 2010 the company went to a no PTO policy essentially moving to the "honor system" for vacation time which is perfect for the company because now they can fire people without having to pay them for unused vacation time. Not to mention there is no way to get time off approved anyway.

Wincor operates on a strictly reactive (versus PROactive) business model. Every single thing the company does is an answer to the question of what it will take to make it through TODAY with no consideration to what effects it will have tomorrow. There are not so consistent processes so essentially every problem that is encountered requires starting from scratch.

Advice to Senior ManagementActually take notice of employee complaints and concerns. Include employee input in goal setting and strategy formation. Show some slight bit of employee appreciation. Modify company culture to be something less like a prison.

    They don't care

Second Line Field Representative (Current Employee)
    Dallas, TX

ProsThe job feels fairly secure as long as you work hard and don't complain to the wrong person.

ConsManagement does not care about the field personnel. There is absolutely no balance between work & personal life. If you work in the field you can forget about any personal life other than what you can squeeze in during the limited time off and frequent schedule changes. Two days off in a row is unheard of.

Advice to Senior ManagementShow the employees you really care about them by really caring instead of saying you care. Actions speak louder than words.

    Just ok

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Austin, TX

ProsBecause there is not very much structure, there is a lot of opportunity for improvement and growth. A good company if you do not like micromanagement.

ConsI feel upper management isn't effective in making change happen. The same behaviors with the same outcome has happened year after year. A lot of finger pointing, not a very positive work environment.

Advice to Senior ManagementChange the corporate culture. Show more appreciation for the people that work extremely hard for the company. Offer better benefits.

    Challenging

    Engineer (Former Employee)
    Singapore (Singapore)

ProsMost colleagues are friendly and fun to work with.
    Interesting projects.
Good working experience as the pace is fast and challenging.

ConsLoads of overtime to do, fast paced, overloaded with projects, extremely busy, need to work over weekends, no work-life balance, no career progression.
Some employees are there for close to 10-20 years and they can be difficult to work with.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore training programmes and career advancement opportunities to employees. Recognize their contributions and reward them.

    Unorganized company

    Assistant Global Accounts (Current Employee)
    Madrid (Spain)

ProsGood ambience, new offices and nice location. Good compensation

ConsVery unorganized, the culture here in Spain is negative and "external" staff is treated very differently than internal ones. Personal growth is almost impossible, since they only trust few people.

Advice to Senior ManagementMotivate and encourage your employees in order to sell more and increase sales. Moreover, keep your employees motivtaed and included in most of the company´s decisions and plans.
