Don't work here unless you can play office politics very very well.

    Retention (Former Employee) Maitland, FL

ProsThe pay was kind of good. The commissions and bonuses were okay too.

ConsThe company is very unorganized, office politics are huge, never complain of HR issues or they will find a way to get you out the door(and that includes fabricating things!). Be prepared to ask questions every day because there is no knowledge base to research policy and procedure. Your research will consist of placing your customer on hold for several minutes while you ask someone who's been there for several years what to do and that includes using the ordering systems. The service they provide is hit or miss in most cases, but some areas do get very good service.

Titanic is Sinkin and the Violins are playing! No Clue Management!

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGreat communication as long as your not management! Dont even think of questioning it! However the checks cashed! And the people who werent management were great to work with! In there defence though they have been on a buying endevour and have been mergin a few companys to there culture if u will! So alot of diffrent ideas hitting the table.

ConsManagment has no idea what the customer want and or needs! (Not to mention employees) To much "You will do as I say not as i do"! Lot of preaching from managent! BLA BLA BLA. Seems like there are alot of ownership issues between departments! Also they demand alot of your time! Alot of former employees moved on to bigger and better! Good luck to Windstream. Moved on!

Advice to Senior ManagementGet a handle on who owns the company! Since the Patec buyout seems that Patec is running the show! Explains why they went Bancrupt 2 times!

Light at the end of the fiber, a company that's constantly getting better and takes care of it's people.

Account Executive (Current Employee) Springfield, MO

ProsGreat team at my local office with a Sales Director who really knows how to manage people. Quality core product offering with competitive prices. Upper management is making moves in the right direction. Decent insurance and benefits. Culture initiatives are attempting better the working environment, cater to millenials and become more like a tech company.

ConsFragmented sales and customer service approach. Vicious competition internally between direct sales and account management, which is a negative for customers. Poor 1-800 customer service team, generally speaking. The management is starting to micromanage. No telecommuting for sales. No room to grow/advance in career due to lack of telecommuting, you have to move to move up.. when many jobs could be done from the comfort of your home (or at customer sites) for the most part.

Advice to Senior ManagementCombine the account management and account executive positions into one and keep the same amount of people. Allow telecommuting for sales people who are over 80% of quota, because it would increase morale. Keep up the integration of systems and culture improvements! Keep an eye on small branch expenses... eg. color copies.

    Disappointing..

Account Executive (Former Employee) Dallas, TX

ProsIt's great if you enjoy being a robot who is told what to do, how to do it, when you'll do it and how you'll say it. They make every sales rep look and sound the same- no personality and very amateur.

ConsA lot of issues that go back to previous acquisitions. Internal systems are not integrated so there's a lack of visibility into customer orders and leads to many errors and bad turn ups. Sales has to manage 2 separate CRM tools and fill out weekly activity and funnel reports. Some managers cover markets across multiple companies (windstream and paetec) but they don't understand the business hurdles and impact the systems and processes cause. Daily 8am team meetings and management is more worried about being able to see appointments in outlook rather than results. Treated as a number, controlled by fear, departments compete for sales, and be careful not to challenge management or bring up issues because you'll be pushed out the door.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo a full review of your leadership teams from market director level on up. VP's should focus on sales and revenue rather than appointment counts, color coding and wording of outlook invites. VP's that want to micromanage are probably better fit as managers rather than leaders.

    Upper management clueless.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGood people employed in the field.

ConsMorale so low because the entire workforce does not know when they will be sent home.

Advice to Senior ManagementWell, I think the board of directors should take a look at management and try to replace before this ship completely sinks.

    A disorganized mess.

    Account Executive (Former Employee)

    ProsCan't really think of any.

ConsThe company has managed to grow rapidly through acquisitions and has not taken the time to fully integrate everything and make sure that it actually works.

Advice to Senior ManagementSlow down and do things right.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
