    Pros

Great benefits. great exposure to gain knowledge with networking. Get a ISP perspective

    Cons

Managers not providing recognition workers that put all effort to daily duties. Hard to get interviews for positions internally, unless you are part of the "in" group

    Advice to Management

Recognize your employees daily rather than when employees leaving company.

I worked at Windstream full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Growing fast paced company. If you are willing to learn things on your own you can gain a lot of experience quickly.

    Cons

Too few employees with too many top level managers. At any time 3-4 people can be telling you what to do while none of them understand what it takes to perform their employees duties. Often takes on new customers with very low (if any) profit margins. Benefits were rather expensive and require bio-metric screening each year to avoid over a thousand dollar increase in premiums.

    Advice to Management

Be selective with the customers you on board. Don't spend $5 to make $2. As you increase employee responsibility you may need to take some of the lower level tasks away. It also helps to stay competitive with the rest of the industry in regards to compensation.

I have been working at Windstream full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits. Depending on the department flexible/understanding managers. A lot of different networking equipment to learn from. Culture is actively being worked on.

    Cons

Departments are siloed. Windstream will not counter offer anyone who tries to look for a better job resulting in a lot of knowledge loss every year. Frankenstein network from all the acquisitions.

    Advice to Management

Make counter offers to try and keep talent or every few years the entire knowledge pool will drop out. Recent culture changes are starting to take effect and are making collaboration better.

I worked at Windstream full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some very nice people at Windstream. Some of them don't seem to be working under overly stressful conditions.

    Cons

I worked in an environment where my boss provided extremely vague direction and didn't appear to be very interested in providing guidance. His boss was extremely hard to get along with, so there's that.

    Advice to Management

Be careful about who gets promoted into manager and director roles. The Peter Principle seems to be alive and well at Windstream.

I have been working at Windstream as a contractor

    Pros

Laid back atmosphere, the bosses over the DSAC group are really cool as long as everything is being taken care of. good group of people to work with as well.

    Cons

The company itself seems to be in limbo, also favoritism, hard to feel enthused to apply myself when i'm already looked at as not as smart

    Advice to Management

don't allow the leads to run the show anyway they see fit, keep everyone equal.

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Greenville, SC

    Pros

Former Nuvox employee, had decent benifits and cared about making sure you had the proper training and payed for you to get training and certifications.

    Cons

Former Nuvox employee..after the Windstream and Patec mergers, management changed a lot and leadership wasn't the same...expected Clec platforms to work on Ilec platforms and visversa. Seemed as they tried to intergrate without thinging through or getting input from employees and when it failed left it up to employees to make fixes and just deal with it

    Advice to Management

I would suggest to take feedback from employees and all departments involved before making changes as they are the ones doing the work on a daily basis and knows what will and will not work to get the job done more efficiently.
