    Pros

Nice people good pay good product

    Cons

Boss is not a leader and there is no help at the help desk. Customers get lost in the confusion

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get help at the help desk and try to make the customers first

I worked at Windstream full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Lots of fiber. Semi strong optical team.
    - some folks from the PATEC acquisition are still enterprise/customer focused.
    - strong change management protocols (aka lots of red tape)!
    - good work life balance

    Cons

    - HR/Recruiting team is just terrible and a bunch of condescending folks. The HR team that works with H1B visas are even worse. You don't get timely answers with regards to case status and they love to drag their feet. Most questions are answered with, "Leave it to us, we know what we are doing".

    - no information sharing between teams, Everybody works in their own bubble

    - nobody acts out the much touted culture values (own it, live it etc.)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - sell it already!

I worked at Windstream full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I worked for Windstream for 7 years. I learned a tremendous amount, and the job gave me great experience to further my career. The best thing about Windstream was that superior knowledge and effort were often awarded with promotion. The company offers one of the few decent opportunities in Little Rock for working on such a large network. I built great relationships at this company, and the team I was on was particularly close knit. I learned so much from analysts, engineers, and managers in every department.

    Cons

The company has outsourced its largest group of technical analysts to India. This has closed many of the opportunities that were available when I first started with the company. The company has suffered terribly from upper management extracting money from the network rather than investing in it. Worse is that the company has kept too much of the management from the companies it takes over rather than assimilating these companies into its own culture. Management has tried to fix its problems through mergers and acquisitions and constant structural changes instead of fixing these underlying problems. Interdepartmental communication is terrible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pick one organizational design and stick with it. Work on investing in the network and completing network integrations. Avoid new bad acquisitions. Most of all, understand that the reason you have so many customer complaints is due to a failure to invest in the network and not because of mistakes by the analysts in Operations. Stop ruling by fear, and start leading with incentives.

    Pros

    Cons

Backstabbing, poor management, brown-nosing of folks who did not work as some of others, hopes to get hired--never panned out.

I have been working at Windstream full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

We don't have a sales quota.

    Cons

They still want us to sell as if we have a quota so that they can continue to get the revenue without paying us and the commissions go to the sales team who never made their numbers in the first place! We can make more money with the competition.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop making changes by hiring consultants when you have a whole company full of experienced people that can and have been making it happen in spite of your poor decisions, monthly policy/procedure changes and constant upper management changes. Don't mess with what works, Account Management is your bread and butter. No one will stay if they have to work for free. Concentrate on the things that are driving customers away such as the ERC, Service Delivery and Billing!
