I worked at Wine.com full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great corporate climate, owner and CEO. All follow an enthusiastic and "can-do" attitude that makes all encounters upbeat and fun. Management is genuinely interested in making improvements in all ways.

    Cons

The HR manager had confusing habits & behaviors (two years ago) after I was hired. She and her assistant were very odd with people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more connected with your warehouse and how it is managed, especially in regards to seasonal hires, "pep-talks "and the way the people over there are treated in general. Better selling software that does not breakdown during peak season would also be great for wine.com. There is a giant hole in the pre-season training to be ready for the holidays. I am guessing you have upgraded your HR people as well as your selling software by now.

    I worked at Wine.com

    Pros

    Lots of wine tastings
    Great work/life balance
    Great CEO
Fun group of people, especially at company outings
If you're looking to do the same thing day in and day out, this is the place for you!

    Cons

Very little room for advancement or promotion, unless you're a Wine Merchant.
No upward mobility for supporting departments-e.g. Marketing, Finance, IT, etc. If you work in one of these departments, then you're pretty much stuck in that same position and department. Very little moving from one department to another.
Not a lot of training or structure. Just jump in and do it.
    No career development.
Benefits are Ok. No matching 401K.
A lot of talk, but very little action when it comes to improving various aspects about the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a look around you and notice how hard others work - not just the wine merchants.
