Former Employee – worked at Winebow full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Some professional staff.
Financial stability.
Many layers, if you are into corporate environments, that allow for advancement or hibernation/concealment.
Cons – Not the sharpest or most strategic thinkers in the industry both at the senior executive level as well as in the middle management ranks.
Reactive organization both to outside trends and developments as well as inside needs.
Of their 2 operations, the wholesale company seems to be more innovative and exciting than the import company.
Advice to Senior Management – Uncircle the wagons, adopt change and be willing make mistakes in order to stay relevant in the industry and the marketplace. Open up to feedback and constructive criticism from both customers as well as employees.

Former Employee – worked at Winebow full-time
Pros – Young workforce, a somewhat vibrant work environment.
Employee discounts on wine and spirits.
Very little cons working at this organization.
Cons – Many downsides with this company.
-Little upward mobility and lower than average pay. Employees with more responsibities and better performances could be paid less than other employees that have less responsibilities
-No performance review procedures put into place by HR leader - No objective, progress on objectives and final review process in place for all employees.
-Poor senior management on the Import side. Very little positive interaction and movement on new and better strategies. The company's systems and reporting abilities need to be upgraded and streamlined to the rest of the market. The budgeting process is very crueling as many employees lack technical skills to produce efficient and efffective reporting and many tasks are done manually.
There is very little plannning done when new processes and strategies are put into place causing much confustion and discontent between workers.
-Response time for email responses are consistantly later than usual.
-President never address's the employees in meetings on the performance of the company. I worked there for about 2 years and the only time he addressed the employees is when layoffs occured. The ownership of the company is primary of the interest of a small board of directors who are not known by a common employee.
Advice to Senior Management – Senior mangement needs to plan better and recognize which employees are good performers and weed out the ones that do not perform to expectations.
