    Pros

Lovely people every one is professional and kind and you can build long lasting relationships. Moving within the company is fair and the salary is great.

    Cons

Sometimes the micromanagement can get annoying especially when it deals with little things that can be managed by the employees.

I worked at Winthrop-University Hospital full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits are good but were better in the past. Most of the employee's are friendly and knowledgeable.

    Cons

Big Brother environment without any transparency. "Team" spirit once present in gone. Hospital now run like a company with in-house accounting dept. Patient care is no longer # 1. They even changed the hospital's logo, which I loved, Care without Compromise [because they do compromise] to "Your Health Means Everything", which means ?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more honest and transparent as all employee's are very aware of WUH Administration's agenda. $$$$$$

    Pros

Employees here are pleasant to work with and show compassion for their patients.

    Cons

The usual workplace clique that cause minor rifts inter-departmentally.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on removing the clique mentality and emphasize overall team strengths. Better display benefits of overall team strategies and cross-training to improve outcomes.

    Pros

Great coworkers. Everyone works well together. A lot of opportunities for overtime.

    Cons

They don't appreciate the hard work you do. They don't compensate for your job title and often male you do the work of three people. Short staffed often.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees with respect and don't make them take on the job of many techs.

I worked at Winthrop-University Hospital full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Hours are ok for the most part unless busy season. Benefits are great.

    Cons

Expected to be at managements beck and call during busy season (late hours every night and working weekends, constant emails asking for tasks to be complete when out of the office). Its looked down upon when you take off from work, whether for pleasure or illness. Promotions and pay increase does not happen for employees except upper management. VPs play favorites and constantly promoting and pay increase to favorite upper employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make people want to stay at Winthrop. If you treat them poorly, pay below average, and not recognize the hard work turn over will be hight. If I was treated better, paid better, and recognized for the hard work put into my positioin and department I may have considered staying.

I have been working at Winthrop-University Hospital part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Understanding what you will and will not tolerate.

    Cons

Management is horrible, non-clinical staff blamed for everything, environment stressful, lack of respect, communication from manager is slim to none, and don't look for great benefits because they what employees to contribute to the new "million dollar" research building.

I worked at Winthrop-University Hospital full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good work/life balance. No lay-offs.

    Cons

Terrible compensation. No bonuses. No room to grow, unless you are friends with the people in charge. Directors given free reign without oversight. Poor managers remain on the job regardless of skills, incompetence, or grossly incorrect decision-making and conflict resolution abilities. HR lacks the depth and breadth to deal with real-world employee issues. Ignorance abounds--most employees lack graduate education.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start with a revamp of HR. Drill a culture of excellence and reinforce it. Clean up middle management and directors. Reward performance that goes above and beyond. Foster internal growth, not just for those who know the "right" people but for those who perform above and beyond and take on additional responsibilities innately.
