I have been working at Wintrust Financial full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great benefits. Great work/life ratio. They understand if you have to leave work if your kid gets sick at school. Left alone for the most part as long as the work gets done. You are expected to do a great job and aren't hounded, which I like.

    Cons

Won't promote from within unless you came over in the PNC mass hiring wave that has over taken the company. Doesn't matter how good your reviews are you will be strung along with promises of promotion and raises that never happen regardless of meeting and exceeding their benchmarks year after year.

    Advice to Management

Your worker bees who love their jobs are leaving en mass because you let the supervisors take credit for all of our work without giving us compensation. I'll never understand giving credit (and monetary reward) to the person who jumps in front of the parade and claims to be leading it. You allow us to be paid substandard rates but people are waking up and realizing their worth. 2% raises of an already underpaid salary aren't cutting it anymore.

Great People. The corporation just bought a new building.

    Cons

Unorganized. The management is horrible and the pay is below average.

If you do not increase wages, you'll lose your best people.

I worked at Wintrust Financial full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I would say above avg health benefits, on-site gym at corp hq, good work-life balance. Company is still small to be nimble but big enough to make positive impact in the Chicago banking footprint. Overall nice employees to work with. Decent annual bonuses.

    Cons

Top heavy organization with lots senor mgrs. Corp communications is probably the biggest cons as sr mgrs doesn't pass down goals, direction to middle and lower level analysts. I.e. the left hand doesn't talk to the right hand. Lack of remote access from home. Merit increases usually small, below industry avgs.

    Advice to Management

Do evaluation of senior managers, make more employees accountable for their actions.

    Pros

Good benefits package, they staff their branches appropriately

    Cons

Very political, management unconcerned with the needs of their staff

    Advice to Management

Don't put unqualified people in management positions just because they're related to someone.

Quickly growing company that needs to collapse all the different charters and increase efficiency.

    Pros

Great opportunities for advancement. Highly regarded company within their market. Cash rich which allows one to cater to customers better than they would be able to otherwise. Very flexible with your vacation schedules and family time. Pay is within the normal range.

    Cons

The company is very top heavy with a lot of SVP and higher employees and much fewer worker bees causing everyone to be hectic at all times. The company is very inefficient with its fifteen charters and I have yet to see a benefit to all the small banks. Their continued purchases of failed banks and cutting 80% + of their employees has caused many departments to be overworked and slow.

    Advice to Management

Collapse some of the charters to improve efficiency. Slow down and ensure that every department has sufficient support staff and competent management to accomplish goals.
