I have been working at Wintrust Mortgage

    Pros

I have nothing good to say as of now...

    Cons

I was placed on the back burner for two months, I was promised every day CTC answers for 3 weeks and never received, my stress level was recorded and BP was high throughout with Wintrust, staff cared nothing for my entire process

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should really look into hiring staff that are there for buyers first, and to waste time, and energy last. I received minimal feedback/responses from them and it sadden me to of been treated this way.

I worked at Wintrust Mortgage full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There is a balance between work and personal life, great benefits, and offer work schedule flexibility.

    Cons

They don't promote equal pay for equal work. I know one who receives a big salary doing clerical work with a designation of AVP, just to justify the high salary, not to mention also the regular bonuses she receives. Whereas, some people there like me, who do also clerical job but requires more technical know-how and analysis receives way below of what she receives and no bonuses. Instead of rewarding you because of your hard work and dedication, you'r the first one to be laid off without any warning, and after you ironed out tasks messed up by your co-employees. They try to get more from you without any good thing in return. You try to do the thing you think is right and the best but still they don't appreciate what you've done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be mindful of the welfare and concerns of your employees especially those who give their best with all honesty, integrity and dedication. Your employees who are deserving recognition and respect are your biggest asset in the Company.

I worked at Wintrust Mortgage full-time for more than a year

    Pros

It seemed like the company was willing to listen to the employees and consider their ideas and opinions on how to better the company as a whole. The benefits aren't that bad and the compensation was above average.

    Cons

Their network and system software needs a major upgrade. Constantly lagging and crashing. They should provide better training for all employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You really shouldn't be getting rid of your best employees.

I have been working at Wintrust Mortgage full-time for more than a year

    Pros

We kept our team together after prior employer left mortgage business and we came over to Wintrust as a group. Great to have local processing and underwriting, staff all cares, competitive rates and programs.

    Cons

Like most lenders, we cut staff when volume slows, which can lead to processing delays. Wish we had a bit more patience when it comes to reducing staff hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

IT and marketing "tickets" are usually a black hole. Getting simple things accomplished through either department requires excessive effort. Wish our comp levels would increase slightly as overall loan volume drops.

    I worked at Wintrust Mortgage

    Pros

    * I liked my immediate manager
    * We all worked pretty well as a team.

    Cons

    * The pay could be better
    * Upper management was completely incompetant
    * Like most larger corportaions they have no problem requiring trust then screwing employees over. I am glad I quit when I did.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Wintrust Mortgage full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good work life balance. Company has family type feel among employees. Compensation is good if you can produce.

    Cons

They need to seriously upgrade their technology, software, and IT. I have problems every day getting work done due to server/computer issues.

Other drawback is more about the industry than the company. Being a loan officer sucks. You're supposed to be a salesperson marketing to realtors, but you have no time due to the endless stream of paperwork and problems closing a loan. And if you came in with no prior experience like I did, it's hard to get realtors to give you business.

Draw/commission structure means uneven pay and constant pressure if you have a bad month and get in the hole.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Fix technology.

    Pros

Big company name, 17 billion and buying the competition.

    Cons

You can NOT control your file, it's there way or no way.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Check your egos, it's a team effort building a great mortgage company.
