  1. I worked for 6+ years. Good company to start your carrier and learn new things. Poor management, useless appraisal

    Pros

As a fresher, a good company to start your career if you are lucky enough to get good manager.
Oppertunities to learn new technologies by nominating yourself and can attend many technical sessions by expertise if you have time and interest.

    Cons

Ground level people are really techie who are poorly managed by people who doesn't know the management.
Infrastructure and internal fecility teams are really road blockers and they are doing just opposite of fecility. The worst is OOC. They think they are GOD.
Some green tag people will be assigned as supervisor who doesn't know anything about your work, achievements or talent. They will review your appraisal and provide you the rating. there is no room for further discussion and changing the rating.
No relationship to your appraisal rating and hike, promotions. If you ask about your ratings, managers or supervisor reply would be don't worry about ratings. Hike is not tied to appraisal rating.
You cannot change the project if you are comfortable to work. If you approach for a change of a project, you are screwed.
Worst part is cafeteria. Trust me, I feel vomiting even now if I think about food.

    Advice to Management

Please make internal fecility teams friendly and approachable. Especially OOC.
People who completed ten years are not necessarily good managers. Please concentrate on management side to avoid employee atrision rate. I quite wipro because of this. I worked for wipro more than 6 years. Out of which I got outstanding performance for 2 times, exceeding expectations 2 times, highly valued contribution 1 time. But, still I was in B2 band.
    Cafeteria can be made better.

    Pros

Good company for starters from NON-Premium institutes(NON IITs, NON NITs, NON IIMs)
challenging environment at an early stage of career
    Good Onsite opportunities

    Cons

Low/Mid level managers(project managers, service delivery heads) can be mean and be biased.
Appraisal ratings does not entirely depend on your performance , you can be cornered if you do not have good relation with manager.
Company policies to an extent are Anti employee , esp the appraisal and expenses policies.
Lot of internal politics , that can be detrimental for an employee.
Salaries are way too close to the legal minimum compensation at onsite.
Management is ineffective in addressing people's concerns.
If you want to expand your knowledge base you will have to do it by yourself and at your own cost , Wipro does not have a good reputation for trainings.
Does not have the best of the projects for knowledge gain.

    Advice to Management

Make an effort to motivate the employees and they will contribute more. Work hard to change the attitude of managers and train them to think professionally and not judge based on personal rapport.

    Pros

Salary....maybe but you have to fight for it and they still use stall tactics and offer you wrong amounts hoping you'll just give up on the negotiation

    Cons

If you are a U.S. Citizen... everything. They spell your name wrong then you have to contest with Homeland Security that you are a U.S Citizen, even though you provided MORE proof than was necessary when hired. Deceptive offer practices including shady negotiation and mis-information. Lack of response regarding salary disputes, benefits and PTO questions. They are disorganized and lack the competency and understanding of U.S. work culture. If you're an IT professional and your department gets taken over by Wipro, watch out. If you're lucky enough to switch over to Wipro, your colleagues will not know how to do anything. If you're salary, you're expected to work more than 40 hours a week for the same pay, but when your client company has designated holidays that aren't on the Wipro calendar you're forced to use your PTO to cover that, or come in to work for no apparent reason. STAY AWAY FROM WIPRO...OUTSOURCING DOES NOT WORK!!!

    Advice to Management

When you take over a large company's IT department...make sure you are prepared and know what you're doing.
Don't promise a seemless transition then send the few retained IT people through the ringer just to make sure they get paid on time.

    Pros

Nothing I think about after knowing the policy of it's competitor.

    Cons

Many ... They don't treat employees well. Also they treat ex-employees very badly.
You won't see this kind of culture (worst) in any other Indian company. Management I worked with are opportunist and they don't remember our contribution once you left them. Exploitation of is the main goal to achieve maximum profitability.

    Advice to Management

Management should look into their exit policy and issue all the ex employees experience letter without any hesitation.
If you are BIG then you should do something BIG for the sake of your employees and ex employees.
