Pros
--> One-on-one relationships with direct supervisors are usually positive, but broader employee-management relations are not effective
--> Good flexibility of work/life balance
--> High availability of telecommuting
Cons
--> Below average salaries
--> Minimal exposure to true business clients; mostly working with IT departments
--> Intranet is terrible (ironically)
--> Company is designed around Indian cultures/values/perspectives at the cost of non-Indian worker frustration and lack of understanding
Advice to Senior Management
Relax the death-grip you have on operations in other parts of the world. The traditional Indian, IT, linear approach to business is not compatible with American working styles. Accelerate promotion schedules to improve retention. Allow great autonomy to groups operating in other geographies. Modernize and simplify internal processes and technologies, especially around Wipro-serving-Wipro support.
