    Poor, blind leaders....avoid this place

Senior Manager (Current Employee) London, England (UK)

Prosno need to show your face to anyone while you're on bench i.e. work from home a very accepted option
Freedom to contribute intellectually; it is not the preserve of Partners only

    Consmyopic, ostrich mentality of leadership
constant sword hanging on head (read "billability")
the leader of Consulting has little / no consulting background
no way of creating a bank of good work - you live for the day and try to survive..

Advice to Senior Managementhow on earth can senior leadership be so blind. you don't need someone to give you advice on Glassdoor.
Consulting gets differentiated by brainpower and brainpower needs to be preserved and respected - do you really do either of this?

    No process, very employee unfriendly

Technical Lead (Former Employee) London, England (UK)

    ProsCan't think of any pros

ConsThis company doesn't have any processes, even though they claim to be the first CMMi level 5 company in the world. There is no place for merit and things work purely based on knowing senior guys. They don't take any care of employee even when an employee is joining or leaving (these are 2 times when any company gives the highest importance to any employee in my experience).

Advice to Senior ManagementLot of issues to be handled, please do something about them if you want to improve the bad name that the company has got

started great but less than mediocre in recent times

    Consultant (Current Employee)

    Prosgood to work after graduation

ConsNot employee oriented, mostly money oriented process. Too much process that it becomes an overhead most times.

Advice to Senior ManagementLittle employee oriented and make the system work to hear employee concerns and don't wait for them to raise concerns. Giving onsite to someone is not a favor you do to them, it is a win-win for both employer and employee but I guess Wipro doesn't understand this.

ProsGreat people around full of energy, friendly environment, making a lot of effort to improve the customer connect with new managment

ConsLacks leading strategy, Due to market pressure highly revenue driven and loosing on creating a differentiation for self

ProsGood people to work with on a daily basis
The solution centers in India have some very good people...
    Good client list

ConsNot enough investment in UK staff for senior client facing roles
Onshore/Offshore ratio not producing quality work
    No career growth

Advice to Senior ManagementBe stronger with the large financial clients, and put better people onsite

Good policies, your experience depends on your project and manager - it's luck

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

    ProsVery good policies
    Secured work environment
    Best infrastructure and workplace ambience
good facilities but with respect to designation

ConsSince it is a very big organization, politics is inevitable and difficult to monitor and curb.
For freshers and beginners the compensation is not good and employee retention has degraded.
If your luck is not good you may land into a wrong project and wrong people and easily get frustrated but otherwise it's cool.

Advice to Senior ManagementMonitor the managers and increase visibility of work done at the lower levels.
Device a way out to retain technical experts of/at any Band - be it B3 or TRB ! If the employee is a geek (like me :D) retain him/her.

    Long term player

Senior Practice Manager (Current Employee) Reading, England (UK)

ProsA stable organization where you can grow if you know how to deal with offshore onsite model. An organization which still plays in the market as low cost quality India player.

ConsHas not understood that customer looks for value addition and it's important to make investments to ensure maximum output. Has not leveraged it's onsite presence where as it's competition has.

Advice to Senior ManagementLook into strategic investments and not limit things regards to policies. Start looking into Win Win Situation for customer and employee both. There is lot of business to be won in the market but Wipro is limiting itself by ensuring that investments given creates low quality solutions and executions thus repeat business is dieing.

Poor short sighted & indecisive management

    Practice Manager (Current Employee)

ProsGood experience in managing large deals--leader in certain sectors

Consshort sighted & old school management layers.. Poor decision taking at leadership levels. Utterly chaotic and now implementing process and structure to a system that does not have the DNA for it yet. Resourcing is a challenge like rest of industry but due to slower decision taking -- issue management is extremely poor and customer ends up bearing the brunt. Lots of good folks still exist in the system but the treatment is not fair anymore and frustation levels are running high.

Advice to Senior ManagementWipro's leadership needs to be more decisive.. Currently they live in an overly paralysis by analysis state reviewing a lot of Sales data and metrics, but not doing fundamental things right. Penchant is to get onto a call and shout orders but seldom does anyone get at the bootom of the issue or analyse and try to put remedial actions to resolve it. No one wants to be the bearer of bad news and one is pushed to give the politically right answers. Difficult times ahead. Entire system is driven by people managing bosses rather than doing the right thing

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
