    Pros

Personal and professional growth opportunity, diversity, value your contribution, company invests in making it a positive work environment. Pushing hard to promote those that continued education while employed with them.

    Cons

The patient population is diverse but because they are a county hospital and publicly funded, you will see many patients that do not buy into their own health care or provider advice. Generally most areas are competitive pay- this position included but not with all employees.

    Advice to Management

Invest in engaging people from all departments and positions for feedback before, during and after major changes. Acknowledgement is great but the small tokens can go a long way.

    Pros

Pay if you're an experienced Nurse, New Hires pay is terrible. Double time Holidays, (I'm sure that will go away soon, just like our PRN pool) Independent work environment, lots of accountability if you are a talented Nurse. Great Co-workers.

    Cons

Floor to floor Drama, ICU Nurses are incredibly rude. Management will never note your accomplishments, but will stand 1st in line to "write you up" for anything, even 1 minute late Badge In. Poor advancement, Selected "Favorites" Really, truly enjoyed my work until Management took over our area and was totally unfair to long term nurses with unfounded criticisms, only believing "one side of the story" Patients are Indigent population and Management believes everything they report, even total lies! But, Hey, that's what OBama Health Care is all about, give free care to those who don't appreciate it or pay into the system!

    Advice to Management

Value your Nurses! We really are smart and can work fast and well. Reward your Staff, Wear a smile and learn how to get all stories straight. Don't hide in the closet. Allow Nurses to be well staffed instead of short staffed.

    Pros

Great sense of community. A chance to work with very caring and motivated people. Opportunity to train and grow within the organization.

    Cons

Some co-workers are undertrained and unprofessional. Encouragement is rarely given and there is a sense that co-workers are out to get each other.

    Advice to Management

Nurture your employees. Allow them to train and advance in their position. Draw a hard line on acting like a professional.
