I have been working at Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good company to work for. Great Pay and Benefits. The company is improving with steady leadership changes that have been occuring for the past 1 year. Minimal dose and contamination.

    Cons

Little management oversight in the field has led to staff making reoccuring errors (not risk significant to the public).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reinforce first line supervisor time in the field to a minimum for 2-4 hours a day. Meetings requiring first line supervisors can be had after normal working hours to allow the supervisor time to supervise and lead/oversee their employees work performance.

    Pros

Good place to work. Great area to raise a family. Great pay for the area.

    Cons

Upper management needs to go. Employees need to realize how good they have it and quit being so negative about everything about their jobs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This current trend needs to turn around or alot of good people will leave the job and area.

Room to move up in the company.

    Cons

I have been working at Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation

    Pros

Great People on the worker level. Good salary for the area, good benefits if you need them, for a young healthy person most of it is wasted.

    Cons

Long term nepitism in management has placed the most unskilled workers into the management chain. The easiest way to get rid of incompetent workers is to promote them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There's a reason everyone in engineering wants to move to a few groups, they have the only competent supervisors in the division.

I have been working at Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation

    Pros

    Compensation Package
Sr. Management sincere about walking the talk
Many good people to work with
Management is approachable and willing to listen

    Cons

Location- gotta be willing to live in the boondocks
    High workload- doesn't stop
Ever increasing regulations and programs choke the ability to get work done.
    Union mediocrity poisoning the culture

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on doing the essentials well. Don't feel like you have to adopt every opportunity that comes down the pike. I'm afraid we're spreading our resources too thin and compromising performance.

I have been working at Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation

    Pros

money, decent hours unless on shift, great benefits, nice people

    Cons

    in the middle of nowhere
it's overregulated and the rules there are ridiculous, meaningless and have no basis in common sense.
If you work shift work, the hours are hard.
They try to shove meaningless goals and corporate jibberish down your throat.
Since we have owners that pump in money, we have no accountability.
I feel like I am working with monkeys.
It is a negative place - I don't know anyone that enjoys what they do.
You must follow procedures and not think too much, therefore the emplyees seem to have lost the ability to think.
The Union has made people very lazy and unaccountable

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hold people accountable from management on down
